Back-to-School Picnic
Please join us tonight, Friday, September 23rd, from 4-7 p.m. at Irvine Regional Park for our annual Back-to-School Picnic. This is a great family event and a perfect opportunity for you to meet your child's friends and get to know the teachers. There will be a Hawaiian buffet, softball game, rock wall climbing, a silent auction, and a raffle. See you there!
Denim Day!
Next Friday, September 30th, we will be having our annual Denim Day charity fundraiser for breast cancer research. Students, faculty, and staff are given the opportunity to wear denim for the day and are asked to donate $5 for the privilege. The money that is raised will be donated to the Entertainment Industry Foundation, sponsors of Lee National Denim Day.
Box Tops for Education
Next week we will begin our collection of Box Tops for Education. Our first collection day will be Friday, September 30th. The Box Tops that are brought in help raise money for your child's class, so please remember to save them and send them with your child to be collected!
Free Dress Day Coupons
If your student has a summer birthday, he or she may use the free dress passes on their "unbirthdays," which is 6 months from the real birthday. If the student's birthday lands on the weekend or a holiday, he or she may choose to use the birthday free dress pass on the day before the weekend or holiday or the day after.
ECPA Sharkey's Haircut Fundraiser Please remember that a flyer was sent home with your student from the ECPA for Sharkey's Cuts for Kids. If you bring this flyer with you to get a haircut between October 3rd and October 5th, 10% of all products and services purchased will go back to our Edgewood Campus! If you did not receive the flyer, please click here to download and print a new copy. Fairmont Prep Info Night Save the date for Fairmont Preparatory Academy's annual Info Night on Tuesday, October 4th. "Whirled Peace" Day
Imagine"Whirled Peace" - Edgewood Students Join Millions of Young People Celebrating Peace

 In today's world, peace needs to become more than just a word. On September 21st Edgewood celebrated 'Pinwheels for Peace' by "planting" pinwheels with messages of peace on the front lawn of our school. Ms. DeVane led Miss Del Carmen's 4th graders in making their own pinwheels for peace. Each student chose a peace theme and decorated his or her pinwheel. Pinwheels for Peace is an art installation project started in 2005 by two Art teachers, Ann Ayers and Ellen McMillan, of Coconut Creek, Florida, as a way for students to express their feelings about what's going on in the world and in their lives. In the first year, groups in over 1,325 locations throughout the world were spinning pinwheels on September 21st - there were approximately 500,000 pinwheels spinning throughout the world. Last year (year 6), 2010, over 3.5 million pinwheels were spinning in over 3,500 locations, including the United States, Europe, Asia, Australia, Canada, the Middle East, Africa and South America.
