Fun Run T-Shirt Design Contest
The annual Edgewood Fun Run fundraiser is scheduled for Friday, May 20th. This year, the Edgewood Campus Parent Association is excited to sponsor a Fun Run T-shirt design contest. Students participating in the contest will have their designs submitted to the Parent Association. Parent Association board members will choose the winning entry which will be printed on ALL the Fun Run t-shirts!
The due date to submit Fun Run T-shirt designs is Thursday, March 31st. Budding artists will create their designs during their Art classes. If you are a junior high student and not enrolled in Art this trimester, see Mrs. DeVane concerning the guidelines for designing a Fun Run T-shirt. Mrs. DeVane will submit all completed designs to the Parent Association before the deadline.
The theme for the design is "Fun Run." If you would like to see your artwork displayed on this year's Fun Run t-shirts, get those artistic juices flowing to create a winning design!

Edgewood Parking Lot Reminders
Parking lot:
1) Parents need to enter the church parking lot from Vanderlip ONLY. We want to have one way traffic in that parking lot. If they ask another person (grandparent, friend etc) to pick/drop off their child, they need to inform that person of the procedure 2) Parents need to slow down in all the parking lots. 3) No parking on the red curb.

Teacher Feature
Roberta Chewning, Assist Teacher
I'm Roberta Chewning, and I have the fabulous job of Assist teacher here at Fairmont Edgewood. This is my second year at Fairmont, and I love the work I'm doing. There are so many terrific students and parents here at our campus, and I enjoy my relationship with each of you and appreciate all the effort you put into your academics.
Speaking of academics, I graduated from U.C.I. with a Bachelor's degree in English and continued there to complete a Clear California Single Subject English credential. After teaching 8th grade English in the Santa Ana Unified District, I returned to the classroom at Concordia University where I earned a Clear Multiple Subject credential and soon became an elementary teacher in the Irvine Unified School District. There I taught kindergarten, 2nd, 4th, 5th, and 6th grades before moving to Fairmont Private Schools. I also hold certificates in CLAD, Early Intervention Reading, and Gifted and Talented Education. Having experienced the curriculum for many grade levels helps me coach and guide our Fairmont students in their current academics as well as help them carry forward knowledge they will use in future classes.
In my spare time, I love supporting all of our local teams, especially the Angels. I play softball for recreation during the week and enjoy competing in tournament softball on weekends. I have traveled to tournaments in Mobile, Alabama, Des Moines, Iowa, and participated in world championships in Phoenix, Seattle, and Las Vegas. My favorite place to play is Palm Springs, because there is nothing like the awesome weather and majestic mountains that frame the green of the softball fields.
I live with my husband, Hugh, a direct marketing entrepreneur, who consults for many diversified companies and causes, and my son, Paul, who attends college at Cal State U. in Chico, CA. Exercising, traveling, and reading keep me busy and engaged when I'm not teaching or tutoring, I also have an adorable Beagle named Mandy and three very huge and healthy goldfish.
I am thrilled to be a staff member here at Edgewood, and I appreciate the professionalism, cooperation, and caring nature of our staff. I really enjoy all of my wonderful students and parents who help make my job diversified and always interesting. I can be teaching shapes and their attributes to Junior Kindergarten students, then switch hats to tackle pre-algebra problems with my upper grade students all in a day's work. There is never a dull moment in the Assist classroom, and I take great pride in being part of the Fairmont Family!
