Congratulations 1st Place Cheer Squad
"I've got the magic in me!" The Edgewood Cheerleaders won first place at the Tustin Tiller Day parade and competition on October 2nd. They have been working very hard since the beginning of the school year to perfect their competition routine. The routine consisted of a cheer and a dance to the song "Magic" by the group B.O.B. During the parade, the team endured changes in weather that included rain, drizzle, and the hot sun as they cheered down the streets of Old Town Tustin. When they stopped to perform in front of the judges, they were full of smiles, energy, and enthusiasm. Their coaches Joanna del Carmen and Blaire Bradley are very proud of the team and look forward to more competitions this school year. Next stop, the UCA Southern California competition in Irvine on November 13th! Go Eagles!

Book Talk @ Edgewood
A Stormy Night
by Salina Talwar
Edgewood had one of its very own Edgewood parents, who is an author, come read one of her books to the elementary students on Wednesday, Oct.6th. Mrs.Talwar wrote the book, A Stormy Night, in inspiration of her older daughter Megan. The story is about a little boy who confronts his fear about a night storm. The little boy learns how to confront his fear head on by the end of the story. It's a great story to read to your child to show them how to overcome their fears. |

3rd Annual Casino Night @ The Preparatory
Saturday, October 23rd  @ 6:30-11:00 pm
Fairmont Prep Gym
This is the Funniest Night of the year. The entrance fee is $25 per person which gains you entrance and $200 in chips. The first 100 tickets sold receive an extra $100 in chips. There are various games offered which include poker, black jack, roulette in the gym and Bingo in the MPR room. At the end of the night, turn in chips for raffle tickets for prizes around the room. Prizes consist of 3 days 2 nights in Vegas, 3 days 2 nights in Laughlin for adults, bowling parties of up to 8 people including pizza and soda, and DVD's with popcorn and candy boxes for students. Food and drinks are also available at Casino Night. Feelin' Lucky!

Teacher Feature
 Lauren Frazier, Junior High Math Teacher
I have been teaching at the Edgewood campus since 2004, but I have been around Fairmont since 1986 in many different capacities: summer camper, Human Resources Assistant, Substitute Teacher, elementary teacher and now Junior High Math Teacher. I graduated from California State University, Fullerton with my Bachelor's degree. Later, I attended University California, Irvine to earn my Master's degree.
I grew up in Orange County, Placentia to be exact, and currently live in Tustin. I love to travel and try to take a vacation any time I can get away. Some of my favorite places that I have traveled to are Barcelona, Venice, Paris, Glacier National Park and various parts of West Virginia. Many things I enjoy to do when I am not teaching are hiking, kayaking, whitewater rafting, and spending time at the beach. I also love to go out to dinner, go shopping and just spend time with friends. I really enjoy teaching the students at Edgewood, and I am looking forward to another great year!
