Cyrus P Mistry appointed Deputy Chairman of Tata Sons

Cyrus P Mistry has been appointed Deputy Chairman of Tata Sons per the unanimous recommendation of the selection committee. He will work with Chairman Ratan Tata over the next year and will take over as Chairman when Mr Tata retires in December 2012.

Endorsing the appointment, Mr Tata said: "The appointment of Mr Cyrus P Mistry as Deputy Chairman of Tata Sons is a good and far-sighted choice." 


"He has been on the board of Tata Sons since August 2006 and I have been impressed with the quality and caliber of his participation, his astute observations and his humility. He is intelligent and qualified to take on the responsibility being offered and I will be committed to working with him over the next year to give him the exposure, the involvement and the operating experience to equip him to undertake the full responsibility of the group on my retirement."


Mr Mistry, currently managing director, Shapoorji Pallonji Group, has been a director of Tata Sons since August 2006. He is a graduate of civil engineering from Imperial College, London, and holds a master of science in management from the London Business School. Read more.

Maryland and Virginia Governors Meet with Tata Executives During Business Delegations to India

Noel Tata, managing director of Tata International, received the Governor of Virginia Robert McDonnell and Mrs. Maureen McDonnell at Tata headquarters Bombay House in Mumbai on November 16. The Governor expressed his admiration of the group's philosophy and its unique holding structure and thanked the Tata group for its contributions in the United States, particularly in Virginia (where Tata Sons and Tata Communications offices are located). TCS Seven Hills Park Receives Award for Exemplary Community Service from Ohio Education Bodies

TCSers accept Award for Exemplary Community Service
TCS was honored by the Ohio School Board Association (OSBA) and the Board of Education of Clermont Northeastern School District. The award recognized TCS' continued efforts at providing ongoing support to the students and exemplary service to the Clermont region through its community outreach projects, including the goIT Student Technology program. TCS was also recognized for being a business leader in the district. TCS Seven Hills Park partnered with Clermont Northeastern over three years ago and has been conducting ongoing technology programs and initiatives ever since. The award was presented to TCS' Amar Naga by the Executive Director for OSBA and Clermont Northeastern School District Superintendent, Neil Leist.

Taj Hotels Resorts and Palaces, Tata Steel International and Tata Sons Gift 20,000 New Books to Chicago and New York Metropolitan Area Low-Income Schools 

This fall Tata Sons, Taj Hotels Resorts and Palaces, and Tata Steel International joined with First BookŪ and the students of Euclid Elementary School in Mt. Prospect, IL (read more) and PS153 Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Elementary in Harlem (read more) for lively reading activities with second and third graders. Building on Tata's national partnership with First BookŪ, an award winning social enterprise, the reading parties kicked off donations of 10,000  books in the Chicago and New York metropolitan area, respectively. Since 2007 Tata companies have donated over 125,000 books to children from low income communities throughout the United States.
