Community Giving

Blackhills FC families are giving back to our community

Blackhills FC is committed to making our community a better place for all through donation and volunteerism.  Our families are doing great things!

  • 1st qtr - Book Drive to support the South Sound Literacy Foundation  Hundereds of books were donated by BFC families and were delivered to the SSRF.  They use the books at Literacy events throughout the community, so that every child can take home a free book.
  • 2nd qtr - BFC Used Uniform Donation - BFC uniforms were donated at Wembley Soccer Shop as families ordered or picked up new uniforms. Approx 90 uniforms were donated.  The were given to the Cielo Project, along w pinneys, balls and used cleats and shinguards.  I still have sweats and more balls, cleats, and goalie gloves. I am in the process of finding other organizations in the community that need soccer clothes and equipment.  Any suggestions or contacts are welcome.
  • 3rd qtr - Little Red Schoolhouse Back to School Drive - approx 10 bags of school supplies were donated at the BFC Annual Picnic.  The supplies were delivered to Jefferson Middle School, site of the Distribution Day for the Back to School Drive.  Over 3,000 kids from Thurston County were served by the Drive.  BFC BU16 team was going to volunteer on Distribution Day but had to change plans, due to a tournament conflict.  I hope next year to get even more school supply donations as well as some volunteers for Distribution Day.  It is a good opportunity for the high school aged players to get Community Service credits.

Coming up 4th qtr - Food, Coat and Blanket Drive for the Thurston County Food Bank.  We will need help with collection and delivery!

Contact Megan Price for volunteer opportunities for teams and individuals.
