CampfireTALKJune 2011  -  Week 3

Greetings!

Thank GOD for the rain, however great or small in your areas!  It cooled off the mornings here, and makes for a pleasant morning "coffee" time on my back patio at the house!  Life's simple pleasures ... don't take them for granted.  Some things are not appreciated until they are missing ... or gone.

Survey your blessings and be "thankful"!

Make me proud!

Health Tips!

We joined the neighborhood health club recently.  It was a lot cheaper than the Lifetime membership, much as I like Lifetime Fitness ... and it is just a couple of blocks from our home!  But you know, they wouldn't come and bring the gym to us!  We had to go to the gym, if we wanted to work out!

But once we were there, we found the place had some great facilities!  No, it is not Lifetime Fitness, but the treadmills are nice, and there's an abundance of airflow/cooling while you workout!  Two good points in my book!  AND, my iPad fits perfectly on the display of the treadmill so I can watch a training/teaching video while I workout!  What is it that the lady from Sanford & Sons used to say about the chicken?

"Gotta love it"!

Make me proud!

A Word from pastor Richbanner - WORD CHURCH -(sm).jpg

A complicated life.  That is what we all seem to be striving for, and working towards, even thought we "claim" that it's the furtherest thing on our minds!  Think about it ...

We make our project management lists, and our checklists, and our policies, and our guidelines, and our ... "STOP!!"

GOD created our lives to be simple, peaceful and happy!
What on God's green Earth are you doing?  Well, you are only repeating what you've been taught by your fathers, your teachers in school, and even the Boy Scouts.  Make lists.  Schedule plans, and work-work-work to earn those merit badges!  But is it all that important to achieve so much?

Take the Boy Scouts, for instance.  Camping is the life's dream of the average boy in scouting!  But is it what it used to be?  My son, John, calls it "work"!  "Dad, it's like going back to school!", he tells me.  And when I stop and evaluate it, I think maybe he's right!  We DON'T have time to sit around the fire and sing songs or do skits anymore, or tell stories.  By the time we actually get around to building a campfire, and showing the boys all of the points on HOW to build that campfire, it's bedtime, and our evening has only just begun!  John, just now returning from a week in ROTC (Camp Swift, Bastrop TX) says they had already had supper and showered by 5:30 or 6:00pm!  If it's good for the military, then ...

Maybe it's time we all think about how "complicated" we are actually MAKING our lives ... with policies, lists, requirements, and projects ...  Maybe we need to take some time and get back to the garden ... and rest from those labors!

And so, as I sit here, in my back yard on the porch, at the dining table my Dad and Mom blessed us with, and enjoy my coffee and the sound of the birds, I think ... WE ... have become too busy!
It's time to take some "rest" ... in the Lord.

Make me proud!
