Bueno! Ola! Howdy! <Gomer Pyle voice> "Hey ya'll!"
All greetings to the Saints of the Most High ...
I trust you are "movin' into May" real nice? A few things I wanted to remind you of this week ... school is almost out! <kids heard cheering in background> Yes, school is finally over for the summer ... in just a few weeks!!
My youngest is always saying, "School is boring ..." while my oldest, now 26 and attending college, says, "I am thankful for the schooling I am getting ..."
Remember the Arsenio hall show that used to be on? It had a segment on each show that they called, "Things that make ya' go ... hmmmm?" Well, the scenario above me ... makes me go "hmmmm". Why the different attitudes? Is it just my oldest? No, he felt the same way about school that my youngest did when he was in Jr. High and High School.
(sorry folks, I just can't bring myself to call it "middle School" ... I like the "manly" name ... "JUNIOR High"! <Tim Allen voice, "Arrrrghh!">)
... ok, don't know where that came from!
The difference seems to be in the "appreciation" that we get when we begin to understand what things would be like (or 'are' like) WITHOUT. My oldest, Joshua, went straight into the workforce after High School. He did this for a few years, and began to observe that if he really wanted to get anywhere ... if he really wanted to make better money ... he was going to have to get some training, some education, and he was going to have to get a degree.
NOW, he has an appreciation for the training and the schooling he is getting! Will my youngest, John, feel the same way? Sure! Given time to see its benefits and its importance, he too will see the value of learning, of knowledge, and of an education, and what it can mean to him!
Take stock of the things around you ... and especially of the things for which you find yourself complaining about. Consider them. Are they a blessing? Or are they a curse? If they are NOT what you want, then as Mike Murdock always says, "Don't complain about that which you allow in your life." DO SOMETHING!
Make me proud!
