Well, I hope your year is going fantastic so far!
May is 1 month away from June, the "middle" of the year, really ... and I think it's time to look back and take a snapshot of what we've accomplished so far.
Measuring your success, and tracking the progress in life is important, but not so much that it sets your pace. A wise man is not moved by his surroundings but in the wisdom and the knowledge that resides deep within his heart ... the core of his being, for he "knows" the Will of the Father, and he knows that a plan set in place by God ... WILL prevail. It make have delays, but God is not mocked! If HE said it, then that settles it, whether you believe it or not.
So, if at this point in your life, you have no accomplished what you wanted to accomplish, take some time to consider what you have accomplished, and maybe why you didn't reach the goal that you had in your heart in that area. But more importantly, remember that life is like the little boy who brings his ball and bat so they can all play the game ... it's "his" ball and bat, and they don't quit ... until he wins!

About Character ...

We talked last month about "fire", and how the fire of God inside you can fuel your very being! It can set you ablaze with His presence, and the personality of God Himself ... good stuff! Once thing I have noticed in my later years of life. Character ... a trait that seemed to be the epitome of all super heroes, the very core of their being ... seems to be unimportant today. For example: One of my favorite movies - Iron Man! Robert Downey plays a philanthropist who is very gifted in his knowledge of science, of technology, and of being able to piece it all together ... when it comes to technology and creativity. But his character? Where is that? He's a womanizer, a playboy, and very self-absorbed. No maybe that's just the twist put into the character Robert plays today, and he does it very well, but is that his idea? or was it Hollywoods? My guess, in Robert's defense, is that Hollywood wanted the playboy type persona so that they could slip in all of the things that makes today's movie goer seek out a movie. What makes a good movie nowadays? Action ... a thriller, with suspense and drama maybe, all good parts of a really good movie! But look closer and you'll also see ... sex, cursing, and the worst yet now up-and-coming ... shock-n-awe. If your audience has become de-sensitised to what you are showing, hit them with something that gets an emotional reaction - even if it's questionable, or in poor taste ... right? WRONG! And yet ... "that" is what comprises a great deal of our movies we watch today! So what is missing ... what is the "core element" that would make (and in some cases, does make) a good movie "memorable"? It's character! The character and deep core values that reside deep inside the hero, the star, the key part in the program ... have them show deep character and that STILL brings the movie way, way up in the box office level! So why don't we see more? The answer to that question is a whole other series! I was in a store a couple of years ago, and they had out in the area a large table with goods and wares marked at discount. It was their "clearance" table, the place where things go that nobody wants ... things that are not in demand. They just don't sell. And I stopped by for a look! Do you know the first thing that caught my eye? It was a book on "character"! It was not a thick book, and looked like an easy one to read ... and it had been marked down not three, but FOUR TIMES! What was it's going price? Get this: Two dollars and fifty cents! So that's the going value that most of us know place on wisdom? $2.50? Seriously? Give this some thought ... it's a seed that will make you think, and if you consider it long enough, it will change your whole life! Make me proud! -pastor rich-
