CampfireTALKApril 2011  -  Week 3

Greetings!

April, a month of "new beginnings", and also the beginning of the 2nd quarter of the year!  What plans have you made to accomplish in this year?  What progress have you made thus far?  Measure it!  In management, there is a saying that you need to remember:

"  If you can't measure it, you can't manage it!"

So, measure it ... by the month, or by the quarter ... hold yourself accountable and watch for ... or yet, "expect" ... results!

Health Tips!

Weight management is not a thing you do and then it's over ... it is a choice - a way of life change, that you make ... to get results!

If you want to look good, you have to work at it!  Look at all of these folks in Hollywood, in the movies and on TV.  You know these folks.

We all admire them, and see their beauty, but it comes at a price.  In fact, just about anything that you want in life that is worth having ... comes at a price!  You have to WORK FOR IT!  It is not just "handed to you" on a plate.

Mike Murdock says, "if you want something you've never had, you have got to ... DO SOMETHING ... that you have never done!"

This is so true!  CHANGE comes about by an ACTION that YOU take in a direction that is different from your current path.  For instance, if you sailing in a boat and you begin to pass a beautiful island that you have never seen before, you will not be able to visit it unless you change your course and head in that direction!  The same is true about life ...  change brings about a new direction

A Word from pastor Richbanner - WORD CHURCH -(sm).jpg

We are visiting some family this weekend that we have not seen in over a year!  This is my wife's side of the family, and I really love these folks because they 'are' family to me!  Her brothers are like brothers to me ... we are close, connected!  But my favorite part is that they are excited about God!!

The Bible tells us in one of the psalms, "Behold how good and how pleasant it is that the brethren should dwell together ...", tells us that IT IS GOOD when brothers and sisters in the Lord fellowship, and get together!  We do this to encourage one another, to lift one another up in prayer, and to reinstate and solidify our relationships.

You are always close to those you are nearest to.  My parents used to live just 5 minutes from us, here in Austin.  I used to love being able to just "hop on over" and have a cup of coffee and take an hour to just sit with them and visit.  Now, they live in San Angelo - a 4hr drive from Austin.  And I find that I miss them.

The distance has the effect in that the frequency of our visits, and the availability is no longer there.  Often I find myself driving down the road and thinking about them and what they do with their time, how they are feeling, and when I can see them again.

This morning, in one of those moments ... I found that in all that "missing" my parents, when was the last time I called them ... just to visit?
(bad son, bad son ... I thought)

So, I will be calling them this evening ... just to catch up, and to feel the warmth that comes from hearing the voices of the two beautiful people in my life that God has so richly blessed me with, as parents.  These two young people were assigned to me, when God gave me to them as their firstborn, to teach me, to raise me, and to give me values and core beliefs that would mold my character, my integrity, and my future!  They did well!

Now let's think about "our" Father ... Father God ... "Daddy".
When was the last time you gave Him a call?  You have a direct line.  All your have to do is to take but a moment, and say ... "Daddy?"  and HE - is - there!  And in much the same way that I am sure my parents often wonder what I am up to, and would like to share in my experiences, our Father wants to be a part of our lives.  He "knows" what is going on in your life, in many ways as my parents do, but somehow "sharing" those events, discussing them ... just plain "fellowship" ... THAT is what is needed!

Keep THIS in mind the next time you are driving down the road, radio blaring, and your mind is busied about all of the things of life.  Reach over and turn that thing off ... set aside the iPod (or iPhone, Android, etc.) and still your mind.  Be quiet for a moment ...  and if you will listen, even before you say His name ... He - is - already - there!  He is just waiting for that moment ... that special instance ... when you call to Him, "Daddy!"

Make me proud!
