Greetings!
Well, we're into the 2nd week of March and have we had a lot of rain or what? That is a "good thing", though ... we need the moisture here, badly! Has anyone been out to Volente Beach lately? It's "the moon"!! Granted a lot of that deals with not so much the lack of rain as it does the "draw" that the population makes on the water supply ... for drinking, watering the lawn, etc. during the extreme heat last year. But, this brings us to a point in our story today ...
In our classes, the St. Philips Methodist Church meetings are almost to an end. We do not meet during the Spring Break week, but will resume meeting the following Wednesdays in March. Please come ... we'd love your input!
Thursday nights Bible Study Group has been fantastic! Pastor Margarett Parker dropped in last week ... great seeing her again! "But pastor Rich, don't you see her a lot in your ministry?", you ask. Not really. We work out of our homes, and remotely. The time we get together, physically, to visit and to share is precious time! This month we're studying on the gifts that God has given us. I call these the "POWER TOOLS" that all of us have at our disposal ... to get the job done! Come and join us!

Let's Go Camping! My wife and my family, and 'me' too, are all going camping this Spring Break! If you are someone who loves camping, drop us a line and join us! We could make it a big Family of God type of Camp Meeting thing! We've already had some takers ... come and join us, and let's have some fun! Spring Break is March 12th thru the 16th, in our area at least. Jane and I are planning to take the family camping from Thursday, the 15th, returning on Saturday afternoon, the 17th. At this time, our plans are to camp at KRAUSE SPRINGS in the Spicewood Texas area, not far from what we in this area know as "Paleface Park". They have showers and restroom facilities, and even a swimming pool, waterfall, swimming hole, and just about all of the things you'd want at a wonderful family atmosphere campground ... except hot water. Yes, the showers are 68degrees (F), just like the spring-fed swimming pool and swimming hole, folks. As my ole friend Elton Krause always put it to me (with a big smile on his face), "it's ... freshing"! Hope to see you there! If you've ever been interested in "real" CAMP MEETINGS, please see our site: FaithCAMP at http://www.faithcamp.org -pastor rich- |
A Word from pastor Rich In our many classes this past week and in the weeks to follow, we have been discussing our "spiritual battery", the spirit of man, and how it relates to: (1) time in the Word of God, (2) time in God's presence, and (3) past, repeated experiences of seeing God 'come thru' for you in your faith.
You see, our spirit man (the real "you" inside) needs food, just like your body needs food. If your spirit man does not get spiritual food, it will slip into a coma-like state of non-responsiveness. You won't feel that usual confidence that comes in "knowing" where you stand with God. You will also feel like things are hopeless. Your life may even seem pointless, wasted. And when you pray, it will seem like forever for your answers to come.
These are all because your spirit man's energy, it's power, it's "strength" comes from GOD. You see, when you were "born-again", GOD's spirit came inside of you and made your spirit man "alive"! It was the Life of Christ Jesus that, by covenenant arrangement of GOD, came into your spirit and caused a "re-birth" of a dead man - "you"! Your spirit became "alive" again! And that life, like the living fleshly body that you live in, while here in the Earth, requires "food" ... spiritual food, to sustain itself.
Compare your spirit man to a battery, and the "charge" you receive ... compare that to the "Life of GOD". When you read your Bible, we are told that you "build your faith". Faith is a power force. It is the spiritual "strength" that you get ... from GOD, from His Word, and from just BEING WITH HIM! As with a battery, when you connect the battery to the "power source", the "power " begins to run through that battery, and as it does it brings the battery's power level UP! After a time, the battery reaches a point where it can provide power to other things that need power, like lights, your air conditioner blower, and even the starting of your car!
In the same way, your spririt man needs to be "charged". It has demands that are placed upon it, like the car battery. When you go through your daily life, or you share with someone about salvation ... when you minister to others, and even just when they are around you, THEY ARE DRAWING POWER ... FROM YOU! Your spirit man is providing them with the "presence of GOD" that is in YOU!
When you get up in the morning, before you get dressed, step up on the bathroom scales. Seriously! DO THIS! See how well you have fed that flesh that you wear each day? Well, ask yourself this question: How well are you feeding your spirit? Is he fat ... or thin? I think the results from this experiement will speak volumes to you!
Daily, from now on, listen to the Bible or preaching ... on your iPod, or your Android or iPhone, your CD player or cassette player in your car, and meditate "the WORD" of GOD on your way to/from work. YOU WILL SEE A DIFFERENCE! <Fred Zimmerman voice - from Men's Warehouse> "I guarantee it"!
