Alachua YouthBuild
Alachua YouthBuild is designed for out of school youth 16-24 that lack a high school diploma/GED and would like assistance attaining educational, occupational and leadership skills enabling them to become economically self sufficient.  The last day for interviews is this Thursday, October 15th, 2009.  Click here for additional information and/or click here for an application.

Will be held at the C.R. Layton Army Reserve Center (1125 NE 8th Avenue, Gainesville) on October 23 and 24, 2009, from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. both days.  Service providers wanting to participate may contact Mary Jane Deedrick at the Alachua County Veteran Services Office at 352-264-6740.  For more information, contact Alachua County Poverty Reduction Program Director, John Skelly at 352-264-6749.

HorseMpower
Alachua County Victim Services and Rape Crisis Center is partnering with HorseMpower and HOPE (HOrses helping PEople) to offer a free equine-facilitated psychotherapy group for adult female survivors of sexual violence.  Will be held at HOPE's therapeutic riding facility in Archer. Alachua County Victim Services & Rape Crisis Center 
Urges citizens to stay vigilant about their safety and the safety of others when it comes to the crime of sexual assault.  The Center encourages the community to visit the RAINN (Rape, Incest, and Abuse National Network) website at www.RAINN.org for tips on reducing one's risk of sexual assault. The Center offers confidential phone counseling 24 hours a day at 352-264-6760 or toll-free 866-252-5439. Callers can remain anonymous.

The Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce has four major focus areas: Chamber Services, the Council on Economic Development (CEO), the Gainesville Technology Enterprise Center (GTEC), and the FloridaWorks Business Services Team.

The Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce, the area's largest and most dynamic business network since 1924, has one simple mission: make it easier for members to do business everyday. 

CEO's charge is to assist existing businesses through expansion, to help grow new companies in our community and to attract new opportunities to Alachua County.

The Gainesville Technology Enterprise Center (GTEC) is a community program providing early stage technology startup companies with tools, training and infrastructure to help them grow and develop into financially viable technology enterprises. 

The FloridaWorks Business Services team at the Chamber offers a variety of services to help you recruit, train and retain employees.

Alachua County Senior Volunteers Needed
The Alachua County Foster Grandparent Program is currently seeking interested seniors to serve special-needs children in our community, especially in local childcare centers and after-school programs.  The next training session for new volunteers will be held October 19-30, 2009.
