Susan Herman, Executive Director

  Greetings!

We asked and you answered! In June, we made an appeal for your support to enable the ministry to hire much-needed administrative assistance to help us meet the needs of our fast-growing clientele.

It is our pleasure to introduce Barbara Holloway!  A Barbara Hollowayformer foster child herself, she brings with her a wealth of information from her experience inside the social services system. Prior to joining the ministry staff, Barbara worked with Help One Child as a part-time contractor developing an Adolescent Support Resource Binder and an original teen curriculum, My Life, My Future, a prototype for group home residents participating in our Supper Club program. Barbara and her daughter, Cloe, are active members of WestGate Church in San Jose.

Barbara can be found in our front office, distributing our growing donated goods and juggling the phones and emails in support of our dedicated staff.  Many thanks to those of you who made this hire possible!

Blessings,
Susan

  • Time to change our strategy or seek professional help
  • What to do if our teen is self-medicating or acting out sexually

SUPPORT
Open Door Church, Mountain View recruited 35 volunteers to host 40 childreon October 6th.  Babies to teens were treated to an evening of indoor and outdoor games, pizza dinner, storytelling, and just plain fun on the PNO Furry Friendplayground!  Highlights of the evening included a visit from the Baenzigers' Furry Friend and Michelle Leavitt's creative craft that, combined with Martin Bayne's photography session, enabled each child to customize their portrait!  Many thanks to ODC's Mission Lead, Bridget McNiel, and campus champion, Ruth Dhanaraj and her team who came together to make this a wonderful evening for parents and children alike!
