Bloody Mary
 
Ingredients:
1 ½ ounces (1 jigger) vodka Tipsy Cocktail Stirrers
½ cup tomato juice
2 tsp fresh lemon juice
1 tsp horseradish
Worcestershire sauce to taste
Tabasco to taste
1 S&R Tipsy Cocktail Stirrer
 
Preparations:
Combine vodka, tomato juice, lemon juice, horseradish, Worcestershire sauce, Tabasco, 1 cup ice cubes, and salt and pepper to taste.  Shake the mixture well and strain into a tall glass filled with ice cubes. 
Garnish with Cocktail Stirrer.

 

 

Good Morning Special
Adapted from The Sable & Rosenfeld Cookbook: our favorite recipes by Myra Sable and Colleen Mathieu.

 

If you would rather prepare your eggs ahead of time, try this recipe. It can be made the night or day before and placed in the refrigerator to pop in the oven when friends appear.
 
6                     slices French bread, crusts removed                 6
2 tbsp            sweet butter, melted                                           25ml
16                   medium mushrooms, thinly sliced                     16
                       (1 ½ cups/375ml)
1 cup             grated Cheddar cheese                                       250ml
1 cup             grated Colby cheese                                           250ml
6                     slices bacon, cooked and crumbled                  6
4                     green onions, chopped                                       4
4                     eggs                                                                       4
2 cups            milk                                                                        500ml
2 tsp              Sable & Rosenfeld Garlic Dijon Mustard       10ml
½ tsp             salt                                                                          2ml
¼ tsp             freshly ground black pepper                               1ml
¼ tsp             paprika                                                                   1ml
1/8 tsp           cayenne pepper                                                    0.5ml
 

Cut bread into cubes to measure 2 cups (500ml).  In bottom of 8-inch (20-cm) square baking dish, arrange bread cubes.  Drizzle butter over cubes.
Scatter mushroom slices, cheeses, bacon and green onions over bread cubes.
In a bowl, beat eggs, milk, mustard, salt, pepper, paprika and cayenne until frothy.  Pour over mixture in pan, cover and refrigerate overnight.
Preheat oven to 325°F (160°C).  Bake for 1 hour, until just firm and lightly browned.
Makes 6 servings.
