System-wide Collaboration
Remaking the Schechter Network Image
by Uri Cohen, Director of Development,
Solomon Schechter School of Manhattan
At last month's day school conference in Los Angeles, collaboration was in the air. In this new era of economic austerity, strategic planning, and collaborative use of resources, the 600+ attendees were focused on how to structure things such that we really can accomplish more together than we can apart. This has never been more true, in theory or in practice - particularly at the Tri-State Schechter Consortium, comprised of 11 Schechter schools in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut...[read more]

Dept. of Homeland Security
Nonprofit Security Grant Program
A Message From the JCRC:
- DHS currently expects to release the
guidance to the state on May 9th. Our friends in Albany are prepared to issue the application process quickly, but the New York State approval process will likely require 1-2 weeks. - The most significant change this coming year is that preference will be given to nonprofit organizations that have not received prior years funding. That doesn't mean that past grantees can not apply. However, they will be at a competitive disadvantage.
- We do not yet know when the applications will be due. We continue to advise you to download the Investment Justification from last year and to begin to prepare answers to those questions ASAP. This year the Investment Justification will be in MS Excel format. You will be able to paste your answers into the new DHS template.
The JCRC webpage will have ongoing guidance. The JCRC plans to hold a webinar on the grant guidance soon after it is released.
