Volunteer Engagement and Development - Wednesday, January 13, 2010
12:00 noon - 1:00 p.m. or
7:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.

Facilitated by Robert Leventhal, Senior Consultant at the Alban Institute, the webinar is free of charge and will be offered live twice to enable your leadership to join at the most convenient time.
The Help Wanted: Volunteer Engagement and Development webinar takes a broad look at the trends, factors, and forces that impact volunteerism today. Learn the best ways to identify potential volunteers, match them with the right job, and recognize their work. In addition, you'll learn how the board and its committees can develop strategies that provide a welcoming environment for volunteers, while making the best use of their time and talents. After the workshop participants will receive an electronic version of the volunteer profile which they can adapt to meet their needs.

WORLD WIDE WRAP
The World Wide Wrap, which teaches about and encourages the mitzvah of tefillin, is celebrating its tenth anniversary. We strongly encourage our synagogues to participate on Feb. 7, 2010, in this dynamic initiative from the Federation of Jewish Men's Club.
Please click here for more information. There is no fee. Your minyan members are important to us. Your club presidents could enroll your club on the basis of the anticipated attendance at the synagogue's Sunday morning minyan. If at least one club officer could go to that service, and invite someone who has a need to learn how to don tefillin, or who has a strong desire to fully feel himself or herself to be part of a davening community, then your club would be doing a big mitzvah. Perhaps the club co-presidents could invite a group of youngsters who are about to become b'nai mitzvah, so those youngsters could learn about tefillin from your minyan's example.
All of the World Wide Wrap programs are meaningful and important, whether they are modest or elaborate. At the FJMC, we wish to communicate that no one should feel embarrassed or ashamed by a lack of knowledge concerning the mitzvah of tefillin.
METNY USY will have 300 "wrappers" during our Mid Winter Kallah. We hope youth from your synagogue will join us for the weekend! See directly below this block for information on this amazing USY weekend.

An abundance of helpful resources to plan your congregation's Tu Bishvat
celebration: www.jnf.org/treesource
Jewish National Fund's E-Z Tree(tm) Program Trees symbolize life, give life, and preserve life. Now E-Z Tree(tm) makes it more convenient than ever to give a special gift: a tree planted in Israel through JNF. It's easy, affordable, and will mean so much to your gift recipient.
When you honor your family and friends with a tree planted in Israel, JNF will send a beautiful, personalized certificate (framing available) directly to the recipient. These can be used to commemorate a Birthday, Anniversary, Bar or Bat Mitzvah, Confirmation, Wedding, Graduation, Baby Naming, or Tu BiShvat. Or use them for sending Holiday Greetings, Get-Well Wishes, Congratulations, Thank-You's, or for Memorializing a Loved One.
E-Z Tree(tm) accounts are established and replenished in $100 increments: multiples of 10 trees at $10 per tree, a 44% savings over the regular tree price of $18. You can use your account to purchase any of JNF's tree or water certificates. We will remind you to replenish your account when your balance falls to two trees or less. Or, for your convenience, you can request auto-replenishment - so trees will always be available for you to plant at a moment's notice, either on-line at www.jnf.org/ez or by calling our customer service specialists at 800-542-TREE (8733). Auto-replenishment will add 10 trees to your account when your balance falls to two trees or less.
Note: If you wish to have your certificate framed or plaqued and/or need express shipping, you will not be able to perform this transaction on-line. You must call 800-542-TREE to place your order. Hours are Monday-Friday 9 AM - 6 PM EST.
Plant a tree in Israel: the gift that keeps on growing! Open an E-Z Tree(tm) account today! Call us at 800-542-TREE (8733).
