Mayor To Deliver State of the City Address
Mayor John Harper

Mayor John E. Harper

Come hear the latest update on the City's progress from Mayor John E. Harper during the Annual State of the City Address scheduled for Tuesday, February 15 at 7:30 p.m. during the City Council meeting at City Hall, 4000 Main Street.

"I am eager to report on the accomplishments of 2010 to the citizens of Rowlett," said Mayor Harper. "The Council, staff and citizens all worked very diligently to see that many great and wonderful things came to fruition. Together, we accomplished the goals that had been set for the year, and we have an extremely optimistic outlook for 2011. This especially holds true as we plan the official opening of the President George Bush Turnpike in December."

Find Your New Best Friend

Dog OwnersAdopt-A-Pet

The Rowlett Animal Shelter will be participating in Adoption Event on February 19, 2011. It isn't about the numbers, (how many pets are adopted) but the ability to connect pets with forever homes or helping a pet owner by providing information on how to better care for their pets and what resources are out there for pet owners. We are working closely with the FRAs (Friends of Rowlett Animals) to reduce the adoption fees for the day. All $75 adoptions will be reduced to $50 on February 19, 2011. We will have fun activities for all. You do not have to be a Rowlett Resident to participate.

MicrochipMicrochip Clinic

The Rowlett Animal Shelter will be hosting a low cost microchip clinic on that same day from 2-4 p.m. sponsored by Friends of the Rowlett Animals and Four Paws Animal Clinic and Pet Resort. The Friends Chip package costs $20 per pet which includes the implanted chip and lifetime registration with PETtrac with a postage paid registration form.

Low-Cost Vaccinations/Heartworm Testing

The Rowlett Animal Shelter also will be hosting Dr. David Shirley, D.V.M of Affordable Veterinary Care to offer pet owners a low cost option for vaccinations and heartworm testing. Pets must be at least 6 weeks of age, healthy and not pregnant to receive vaccinations. Pets are seen on a first come, first serve basis.

Again, you do not have to be a Rowlett resident to participate.

We hope to see you there!!!!
