Greetings!

Search diligently

Early in the new year of 2011, we will hear the prophet's words coming to us, "Arise, shine, for your light has come." (Is 60:1) After the good news of Christmas has stirred us anew to know once more Jesus' presence in our world, we are to live as people who are aware of the great light of God, in the person of His Son, Our Lord.

So the command, "Go, and search diligently for the child" (even though these words come from the mouth of Herod), can motivate us to find Christ in our surroundings, in circumstances of daily living, and in other people in whom the Lord finds a disguise.

Let us find Christ and keep Him close to us this year.

Sincerely,

Rev. Philip J. Kennedy

I am very grateful to Catholic Missions In Canada for your support to Our Lady of Lourdes parish in Nakusp. It is a very tiny community which forms the nucleus to serve three equally small mountain communities. Your assistance allows them to carry out urgent repairs to the rectory. Read More....
Your birth, O Christ Our God

The Icon of the Nativity of Our Lord by Andrei Rublev

The Icon of the Nativity of Our Lord was painted by Russia's greatest iconographer Andrei Rublev. The upper section represents the Heavenly realm and included in this section are the angels and the star.

The next sections represent the earthly players in the Nativity drama. We see the Magi from the East who followed the star and who represent those people who believe after much study and journeying.  Read More...

Handing on faith traditions
BY ANTAL PROKECZ AND CHRISTINE MADER

It's become something of a tradition for us to load up a U-Haul truck and drive it across the country. The first time was thirteen years ago to Prince Albert diocese. Then, on to Calgary diocese, and now, sitting on the side of Highway 17 in Northern Ontario, waiting for roadside assistance because of a tire blow out, back to Toronto.

Parish lives the dream
Our Lady of Fatima parish celebrates 50 years of blessings

When we reflect back on the beginnings of Our Lady of Fatima parish in 1959, we marvel at the faith and courage of the people who worked so diligently to form the faith community that we are enjoying today.

It is with gratitude that we look back on the formation of the parish on December 8, 1959. Read more.....
