What is the Fairfax Volleyball Club?

The Fairfax Volleyball Club was founded in 1979 to serve the Northern Virginia volleyball community by coordinating year-round indoor adult recreational league play.  In addition to coordinating indoor leagues, which play at the Virginia Volleyball Center, the Dulles Sportsplex and Fairfax County schools, the club also coordinates outdoor grass tournaments each summer.  To learn more about the FVC as well as its leagues and tournaments, please visit the FVC website.

Exciting News About Fall Leagues!

Fairfax Volleyball Club Members,

Referee working a gameI have some VERY exciting news to share with you!  For the last six years in our Fairfax West divisions, we have been limited to playing on Mondays and Wednesdays at the Dulles Sportsplex.  This past March, we were able to increase the number of courts with a partial expansion to the Virginia Volleyball Center.

I am EXTREMELY pleased to announce that we will be making an additional expansion in both facilities this Fall.  We will now be able to offer league play for Fairfax West divisions Monday through Thursday!  All existing divisions will continue to be offered along with some new divisions, including a Reverse Coed BB division on Thursdays.  A full list of the divisions being offered can be found below.

In an effort to field teams for this expansion, we will be offering several Open Play events in early September.  These events will focus on finding teams for all of the individuals out there who are so anxious to play.  We will also be highlighting the Reverse Coed format on September 9 to give newcomers a chance to try it and to give existing Coed teams a sample of the modified format.  A full list of Open Play dates can be found below.

I'm also proud to announce that we will be offering three evenings of skills clinics on September 13, 14 and 15.  These clinics are being offered exclusively to our members and will be conducted by USA National Team Coach Bill Hamiter!  He will be assisted by several well-known volleyball players from our region.  Stay tuned for more info.

That's a lot of information for one newsletter.  Read on for more news from the rest of the Fairfax Volleyball Club Council.  We will be in touch more regularly over the next couple of months as we gear up for all of these new offerings.  As always, we'd be very grateful for your input.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and I hope to see you all out on our courts soon!

Mark your calendar and join us on Thursday, September 9 at the Virginia Volleyball Center.  Bring your coed team -- we'll teach you how to play reverse coed and if you like it, we'll sign up your team for the Fall session!

Try a New Volleyball Format/Team This Fall!

Hey ladies!
Do you usually play on a coed team?  Are you tired of ALWAYS being the setter?  Why not play on a women's team and/or a reverse coed team this Fall in addition to your "regular" team?  The women's team and reverse coed team will provide you with an opportunity to improve your hitting and defensive skills.  And if your coed team is willing to play reverse coed, voilah! -- you already have a team, and there's no stress about forming a new one!

Hey guys!
If you have never played on a men's team or you want to work more on your defensive or setting skills, consider playing on a men's team and/or a reverse coed team this Fall in addition to your "regular" team.  High energy, testosterone-packed games, improving skills and having fun -- it's the best of all worlds!
