$22 million budget gap projected for next year
As we put together our budget for the 2012-13 school year, which will go before the School Board for a vote in July, we will once again have to make difficult decisions. Our budget gap for next year is projected at about $22 million. This comes after several years of budget shortfalls. Seattle Public Schools has lost $46 million in state revenue over the past three years.

Five students from Seattle Public Schools performed at the More Music @ the Moore program on Friday, March 23 at The Moore Theatre. The five student musicians performing from Seattle are: Dont'e Johnson, Sam Fair, Jesse Stout and Raven Taylor from NOVA High School, and Malik Meullion from Garfield High School. * Salmon Bay 8th-grader wins first place in C-SPAN video contest * Hamilton International Middle School artists win state flag contest * Students' artworks on display at Naramore art show starting April 13 |

Ballard High grad receives Congressional Gold Medal
Frank T. Matsuda, a 1941 graduate of Ballard High School, was awarded the highest honor a civilian can earn, the Congressional Gold Medal, at a ceremony in Washington, D.C.
