Superintendent's Message: State of the District |
Seattle Public Schools shows strong gains; graduation rates up from 67% to 73%
Seattle Public Schools made strong progress during 2010-11. We made student improvements in reading and math and had an increase in the four-year high school graduation rate.
West Seattle Elementary illustrates the importance of the first of the Four Pillars of Success: Great Principals. Thanks to the leadership of Principal Vicki Sacco, the school moved from Level 1 (lowest level) on the District's rating system in 2009-10 to Level 3 in 2010-11, and made Adequate Yearly Progress for the first time since 2004-05.

Franklin High graduate elected mayor of San Francisco
Ed Lee, a 1970 graduate of Franklin High School, won San Francisco's mayoral race Nov. 8, becoming the city's first elected mayor of Chinese descent, as well as the first Asian American elected to the office.
