Naramore Art Exhibit continues at Seattle Art Museum

An exhibition of more than 200 artworks from middle and high school students is on display until June 5 at the downtown Seattle Art Museum. Various media and techniques - including ceramics, pencil, oil and acrylic painting, collage and photography - will be on display.

 

 

Fish art by Dunlap studentDunlap student wins first place in fish art contest

Al'Tariq Sims, a student at Dunlap Elementary, is the state's first-place winner in the Grade 4-6 category for "The Wildlife Forever State-Fish Art" contest.

May 14 workshops to help student-learning during summerBuilding Bridges poster

Seattle Public Schools is hosting several workshops on Saturday, May 14 that will provide families with tools and information to support their children's learning during the summer. The "Building Bridges: Workshops Connecting Families and Schools" is aimed at providing families with the information, practical strategies, and resources they need to support their students' academic success.

 

 

College Bound Scholarships offer free college education

The College Bound Scholarships guide low-income seventh- and eighth-graders on the path to a college education by offering the promise of tuition when students reach college age if they keep up their grades and stay crime-free. Deadline for eligible eighth-graders to sign up is June 30.

Nine students receive MLK School Dream Foundation scholarships
Former students of the original Martin Luther King Elementary School were awarded $1,000 scholarships for post-secondary education and will be honored at a banquet May 23.

SAEOP delegation in WenatcheeThree SAEOP members receive excellence awards at conference

Three members of the Seattle Association of Educational Office Professionals received awards at a conference in Wenatchee last month. The delegation, left photo, also donated stuffed animals to the Wenatchee Fire Department to help children experiencing trauma.

 

Seattle Special Education PTSA to honor outstanding educators

Maki Ichikawa, teacher at B.F. Day Elementary; and Carlen Luke, teacher at Stevens Elementary will receive Outstanding Educator Awards at the Seattle Special Education PTSA general meeting May 17.

 

Ingraham science teacher named AFA Teacher of the Year

Wedgwood, Laurelhurst teachers to attend Teachers Academy

Outreach program teaches students about healthy, active lifestyles

Seattle Sounders FC and Symetra Financial have launched a new community outreach program - "Together We Play" - to teach local elementary school students about healthy and active lifestyles. The program brings Sounders FC players and coaches to elementary schools during the Major League Soccer season to promote health and fitness.
