WSAE Webinar
Second Life: Innovative Applications for Associations Tuesday, April 6, 11 a.m. CT
Coming out of a difficult 2009, most associations are looking for new, innovative ways to engage members. Whether it was a drop in attendance for face-to-face meetings or the feeling that something new is needed, many organizations are exploring new and different ways to reach, engage and educate their membership. Most members need more engagement and connection than typical distance learning offers. Second Life might be one option for your association. Whether you need a way to enhance educational events, create a safe, interactive place for Special Interest Groups to meet, or a membership recruitment tool, Second Life provides an immersive experience that will set your association apart from the pack. Join these two experts and learn how your association can use Second Life to up the ante on your education programs and services. Terrance Cummings will guide you through this new "world" of opportunity, while Debra Bachman-Zabloudil explains how Second Life creates new opportunities for today's association market.
This is the first in a series of WSAE-developed webinars. As a member benefit, registration is complimentary for WSAE members.

Institute for Organization Management offers partial scholarship
WSAE is pleased to partner with the U.S. Chamber's Institute for Organization Management (IOM) in offering partial scholarships for new enrollees that are EXEC ORG members. The Institute program provides management and leadership training for association, chamber, and nonprofit professionals. The IOM curriculum consists of four one-week sessions. Most participants choose to attend one session per year over a four-year period at a consistent location. Enrollment is now open for the program. If you are interested in a $500, new enrollee voucher, contact Brittany Marsala at (608) 310-7850 or bmarsala@wsae.org.
Upon completion of the Institute program, students receive the IOM graduate recognition which allows them to use the letters "IOM" in public mention and professional correspondence, as well as 96 credit hours toward the CAE as Institute's curriculum is directly tied to the CAE body of knowledge (24 hours per year). This IOM recognition signifies the educational achievement of Institute graduates and demonstrates dedication to the nonprofit industry. For more information about curriculum, sites, and dates, visit the Institute website.

In Memoriam
E. Stony Steinbach, CAE, past president of WSAE died on March 8, 2010 in Mayville, Wisconsin after a lengthy battle with Parkinson's disease. Stony was one of the original founders of the Professional Insurance Agents of Wisconsin when it was the Wisconsin Independent Mutual Agents association. He was one of the earliest volunteer presidents of the association and become the first employee of the organization as the part time executive secretary. As the association prospered and gained membership strength, he became the full time executive secretary and continued to lead the association in that capacity until his retirement in 1994. He was also active with WSAE, serving as its president in 1968. A celebration of Stony's life was held Friday, March 12.
