Prior to her death in 2008, friends and family of Kitty Trask Holt established a research endowment at the Medical University of South Carolina to honor her courageous battle with scleroderma. The Kitty Trask Holt Endowed Chair for Scleroderma Research provided the catalyst to establish the MUSC Inflammation and Fibrosis Research Center of Economic Excellence. Held on Friday, February 17th, The Beaufort Fund Reception distributed awards totaling $500,000 to 58 nonprofit organizations serving Beaufort, Jasper, Colleton and Hampton counties.
