Social media in the nonprofit world
On Monday, June 20, the Association of Fundraising Professionals held their Summer Institute. Director of Marketing and Communications Christine Beddia presented on building social media for nonprofits. She highlighted the fact that social media is not a fad but it also isn't an instant friend-raiser. Interesting and relevant content in a two-way dialogue will be the most beneficial in building your social network online in order to help with social change. Here is her presentation in case you missed it! Coastal Community Foundation also sponsored four scholarships. The recipients were Gloria Duryea, Child Abuse Prevention Association; Suryani Capps, Hope Haven of the Lowcountry; Katherine Royal, Beaufort County Open Land Trust; and Tish Lynn, Center for Heirs Property Preservation. |
Due diligence pays off
The IRS recently revoked 300,000 nonprofit's tax-exempt status. There are 1.5 million nonprofit organizations in the United States. As a donor, take the time to research the organizations you support to be sure they are not on the list. Coastal Community Foundation can help vet nonprofits in coastal SC because the Staff works with these organizations on a daily basis. Check the list to make sure the organizations you support are not included in the revocation.
