Twelve Years and $500,000
By Angel Johnson-Brebner

In December 1998, Paula and Paul Heinauer, owners of Glasspro, created the Glasspro-Heinauer Family Fund, a Donor-Advised fund, as a way to give back to the community that they live, work, and play in. During the course of the twelve years the Fund has been in existence, it has given away $500,000 in grants to over 100 nonprofit organizations ranging from the Lowcountry Food Bank to Windwood Farm Home for Children to Carolina Youth Development Center to Mepkin Abbey.Congratulations to the Glasspro-Heinauer Family Fund for reaching this milestone and thank you to the Heinauers for making it their mission to serve others in our community!

Congratulations!
Adaptive Gardens of the Lowcountry received 501(c)3 status and is now a public charity. It has taken a lot of work and time, but they are officially out on their own! Executive Director Leslie Wade is excited about their new status and optimistic about what this means for the community, "This status brings all the ideas at the inception of AGL fresh into the hearts and minds of all involved; with this symbol of permanence, Adaptive Gardens will be reaching out to more organizations and schools to offer their services." Adaptive Gardens is a 100 acre farm located on Thornhill Farm in McClellanville. The staff and volunteers dedicate their time to helping people with special needs learn the ways of healthy living and social bonding while getting vocational skills through horticulture activities. Horticultural therapists Jodie Thomas and Leslie Wade have teamed up with Our Local Foods, LLC's Maria Baldwin to enrich the lives of special needs children and teens.
Congratulations to Adaptive Gardens and thanks for all of the great work you do!
