Past Open Grants recipients $100 Million Given to the Community
Coastal Community Foundation crossed a major milestone, distributing a total of $100 million the the community. The $280,000 given to 42 area nonprofits through the Open Grants Program pushed the Foundation over this grantmaking mark. Those $100 million have come from donations to the Foundation over the years and from the accumulated returns on endowment funds created by Lowcountry residents.
So what has this first $100 million done? Hundreds of nonprofit organizations have moved closer to achieving their missions: children helped, our landscape improved and ecosystems preserved, jobs created, new employees prepared for work, the sick healed, food for body and soul provided, and on and on. It is because of the giving community of coastal South Carolina that we are able to continue to serve.
Thank you for your continued investments in the community!

Philanthropy Week 2010 was a success! Thank you to all of the people and organizations that helped make it a success and thank you to all of the donors that ensure nonprofits in the community can continue to serve.
Monday, November 15, Philanthropy Week 2010 kicked off with an event where more than 300 people celebrated the hundreds of mentors working with children and young adults in our community. Awards were given to 12 outstanding mentors. Read what the Post and Courier said about Philanthropy Week and how the week allowed members of the community to share their stories of the benefits of philanthropy, give thanks and recognition to those that volunteer and donate, and to award a community that thrives on giving. We are fortunate to be part of such a giving group of people and we look forward to continuing this tradition next year and for many years to come.
