Fields to Families provided by Melanie Mathos
To accommodate the growing demand for its services, Fields to Families is currently recruiting volunteers for: harvesting fruits and vegetables at participating farms, distributing produce to recipient agencies, planting and harvesting the crops at the new Whole Foods Market/Fields to Families Garden (Summer 2010), planning and participating in events, tending a booth at a farmers market to help spread the word, and serving on the Health and Nutrition Outreach committee. Reaching Out
Charleston Twestival A Twestival is simply the use of social media to bring people offline and connect in person to support a worthwhile organization. Last year's Twestival raised more than $250,000 for safe and clean drinking water. This year's- the first ever in Charleston- will benefit Concern Worldwide, which is a global education program focused on the world's poorest nations. Making a Difference
Miracles in Southern SC
When was the last time you saw $500K change hands? Last Friday if you were one of the 140 guests at The Beaufort Fund grant reception. In its 11th year of grantmaking The Beaufort Fund continues to delight nonprofit organizations (57 of them!) by making grant awards. In the words of CEO George Stevens, "We are witnessing a miracle tonight" and no, he wasn't referencing the half million changing hands. To find out about the miracle, read on.
