4 Foursquare Game-Changing Deals

Mobile location technology has been a central theme so far in social media circles in 2010. Services such as Foursquare, Gowalla and Loopt allow users to update their friends with their whereabouts and earn rewards. The breakout service appears to be Foursquare, which, this past Wednesday, announced that almost 100,000 users had signed up in just the past 10 days. With growth like that, it is no wonder that businesses are teaming up with Foursquare to create customer rewards programs. 4 examples of companies using foursquare to provide value to their biggest fans include Tasti D-Lite, Starbucks, Zagat, & Bravo. What's your take? Is Foursquare the ideal customer loyalty program platform? Read our complete article here.

6 Schools Paving the Way in Social Media Education

Many college are embracing social media to enhance the learning experience for students. Some schools have not only embraced social media to enhance learning, but also find it so valuable that they have adjusted their curriculum and now offer classes (and even programs!) in social media. 6 examples of schools who are paving the way in social media education are Emerson College, Birmingham City University, Stanford University, Griffith University, Georgia Southern University, & Michigan State University. Find out what these schools are doing so well by reading our complete article here.

Conan O'Brien & Betty White Prove the Power of Social Media

When Conan O'Brien left NBC, many wondered what his next move would be. When he joined Twitter and gained hundreds of thousands of followers overnight, people took notice, but still wondered how meaningful it was. When he sold out a show tour in 48 hours with promotion only from Twitter, well, the proof was in the pudding.

When 88 year-old Betty White appeared on a Superbowl commercial and created a lot of buzz, people talked. When someone started a Facebook Fan Page "Betty White -to-host-SNL - PLEASE" and over 500,000 people became fans in less than a month - well, Betty White will be hosting Saturday Night Live on May 8th.

Exclusive Video Interview with Newark Mayor Cory Booker

President Barack Obama and the US Federal Government have set the tone for government use of social media, but hundreds of local states, towns, and government agencies have also begun to use social media to accomplish their objectives. We are passionate about the role that social media can play for local governments, & proud of the work that theKbuzz has done with the NYC Department of Health on Facebook with NYC Condoms and NYC Quits and the Boston Public Health Commission on BostonSexED.

Dave talked with the Mayor of Newark, NJ, Cory Booker. Mayor Booker is a rising star in politics, with late-night tv appearances, a friendship with Ashton Kutcher, and even a front-page appearance on Mashable when he responded to a tweet by showing up at a Newark resident's house to shovel her snow. Mayor Booker clearly understands the power and promise of social media for local governments, as you'll see in the interview. What examples do you have of local governments using social media? Watch the interview and share your thoughts here.
