What is Ortho-Bionomy?
orthobionomy
Developed by Dr. Arthur Lincoln Pauls, a British Osteopath, Ortho-Bionomy is a gentle, non-invasive, osteopathically-based form of body therapy which is highly effective in working with chronic stress, injuries and pains or problems
associated with postural and structural imbalances.
  • The term "Ortho-Bionomy" comes from "ortho" meaning correct or straight, "bio" meaning life, and "nomy" meaning the laws of or study of. Dr. Pauls defined the term then as "the correct application of the laws of life."
  •  Ortho-Bionomy focuses on the structure because that is the literal skeleton upon which our life is built. When your structure works right, your circulation works better, you feel better, you think better." (Kain and Berns, 1992)

 Ortho-Bionomy at Evolve Pilates

Hello, I'm Mary Santello. Mary SI have practiced   and taught bodywork in  Gainesville since 1991, and have practiced the modality of Ortho-BionomyŽ since 1995.  I am passionate about and support people in enhancing their health and     well-being though self-care.

In my class "In Your Own Hands", I teach how to use the tools of exploration of movement, positioning for comfort, and gentle isometric/resistive exercises to help people become aware of their body's structural patterns and effectively resolve every day aches and pains, as well as more chronic structural imbalances that cause physical discomfort.

"In Your Own Hands" intends to empower each person by offering life-long, creative yet practical, self- use tools to achieve the maximum state of health possible.

 BOSU... what the experts say..

."As a sports performance specialist for 30 years, I believe the BOSUŽ Balance Trainer will become a required "necessity" for every team, motivated athlete, etc. to use in their training. Because of the important role of "body equilibrium" in all human performance, I've always recognized it was the limiting skill for most athletes that prevented them from reaching great heights. Well, that won't be the case any more. More than ever before, the sky is the limit."
Dr. William D. Harrison
Performance Fundamentals Inc. - Laguna Beach, CA

Researchers in the Department of Exercise & Nutritional Sciences at San Diego State University conducted a pilot study to determine the efficacy of the BOSUŽ Balance Trainer for improving muscular strength and balance in adults of various ages. Field measurements of static and dynamic balance, as well as abdominal strength, showed improvements ranging up to 31% after just a four-week program.
BOSU classes: Tuesday @ 10am, Friday @ 1pm, Monday@5pm
