FABRIC EXCHANGE
Pretty Fair Miss
Pretty Fair Miss Cover
Thanks to all of the folks who have continued to send fabric in the mail and bring it to shows! We had such a wonderful time bringing this little experiment to Canada, and we are grateful to everyone for showing such spirit.

I have a new blog post on The Little Yellow Sewing Box, but I haven't had a chance to update the fabric page since we came back to the USA. I am planning to add photos of the fabric from the last couple of months as we travel out west. So, stay tuned!

We have received so much wonderful fabric that I am considering making two quilts and raffling one off next year for charity. We are looking into some charities that are close to our hearts and hope to announce something about that in a later newsletter.

We have until November 8 to collect all of the fabric for the Trip Around the World Quilt. The first showing of the quilt will be at our concert at the TurtleDove Folk Club on November 20, the day after my five day quilt class at the John C Campbell Folk School!

Often in this little sidebar we mention movies we've seen or books that we've read recently.

A friend took note and thought that we would enjoy goodreads.com. It's a little like Facebook, but all about books -- what you're reading, what you've read, and what your friends are reading.

I love it already! We just got started and, right now, Billy doesn't have a page up yet, but we invite you to visit and hope that you will find something to read and pass it on.

I've also posted one of my poems that I read to our Appalachian Traditions group at The Woods. Interested in Snake Handling Churches, then click here.
TOUR UPDATE!!!
Northeast Date Added for November!
We've just added a lovely concert in West Grove, Pennsylvania on Saturday, November 20, at the TurtleDove Folk Club!

Since this is the farthest north in the USA that we'll be heading this year, we hope that we'll see some of our North Country friends in November. What a Thanksgiving that will be!

Willie Nelson's Bus
From Columbus to California, New Mexico to New Jersey

Well, dear friends, the last time we wrote we were in Las Vegas surrounded by Union Coal Miners at the Mirage Casino & Hotel. The UMWA certainly picked a fine place for a convention and we were only too sorry to leave the dry heat for the more sticky east coast.

But all of the warm welcomes we received while we toured in Maryland, Virginia, Tennessee, and North Carolina were still very much appreciated even if a bit sticky!

We've just returned from our duo's first trip to Canada where we taught at the amazing Woods Music and Dance Camp in Muskoka, Ontario. More on that in the story below.

After ten days of praying over our car, we think Bebe (stands for Baby Blue, though I think her actual color is called Patriot Blue) is ready for the thousands of miles ahead.

That's right, we're really going across the country pulling a little spaceship behind us all the way. The tour starts off in Columbus, Indiana tomorrow and finishes up in New Jersey. Wait, isn't that the wrong direction? Yes, Virginia, it is. Turns out some folks up there decided to make a nice Thanksgiving present to us by hosting a house concert. You too can be part of the cornucopia of song if you happen to be along our route in the next three months. So, take a look at our calendar and if you see an empty space that suits you, write to us.

Otherwise, we hope you will come out to one of the many shows already on the books and, if we're not coming your way, consider sending a loved one or a friend or even a complete stranger. We will do our best to make their ears happy and their toes tappy.
Getting ready to perform in Big Brown with our friend Tricia. Thanks to Jayne Mitchell for the great photo.

The Woods Music and Dance Camp

Well, it's a fact. Canadians are just plain great at singing. We heard more singing at The Woods than we've ever heard anywhere!

So that made for a very happy week of teaching Harmony Singing, Appalachian Traditions, Music of the Coalfields, and Quilting. We even threw a little flatfoot dance in there on the side. It's hard to sum up a whole week of mayhem with Canadians, so we made another trusty slideshow to give you an idea of what fun you could have if you go next year. But be forewarned, registration fills up in about a week for the 80 spots they have every year.

A special thanks to all of the folks who sent me photos so that I could fill in some bare spots in our slideshow. And if anyone out there would still like to contribute, please send us your photos and they will make it into our scrapbook here at home and possibly in our end of the year slideshow.
Making Plans to return to Great Britain!

We are excited for our return to England and Wales in September of 2011. And this time we are hoping that we'll make our way up to Scotland too. Our trusty agent, Kelly Foley, is already at work putting together a plan for next year. If there is a venue near you that has Jeni & Billy written all over it, we would be pleased if you would be in touch and we will forward your thoughts to Kelly.

There is an outside chance that we may also plan a mini-tour early next July as well. We have been kindly invited back to the North Wales Bluegrass Festival. So, if you are aware of any festivals in late June or the second weekend of July that would be perfect for us, we welcome your thoughts.

See you for tea!
