What is Earth Day?
In Spring 1970, Senator Gaylord Nelson created Earth Day as a way to inspire awareness and appreciation for the Earth's environment. The first Earth Day was held in 1970. Groundbreaking federal legislation followed the success of the first Earth Day. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency was established in 1970, followed by the Clean Air Act, the Clean Water Act of 1972, and the Endangered Species Act of 1973. Among the many far-reaching provisions of these bills was the requirement that automobiles use unleaded gasoline, achieve a minimum number of miles-per-gallon of gasoline and be equipped with catalytic converters to reduce the amount of toxic fumes released by automobile exhaust.
Now more than ever businesses as well as individuals know that environmental awareness and knowledge are a universal concern.

3rd Annual Earth Day Celebration
Wilshire Center
Join me on Thursday April 22 for the Wilshire Center's 3rd Annual Earth Day Celebration.
Starting at 11am until 3pm there will be plenty of events, and information that will not only bring about awareness on environmental issues such as global warming and recycling but also provide entertainment for the whole family.
Last year was a great success and this year promises to be even better. There will be more than 50 booths providing gardening training, adopt a tree, face painting for the children. It's a great opportunity to sample and purchase some of the best organic and locally grown produce. It's a city wide Car Free Day so use public transportation, carpool, bike or walk.

There will be plenty to do and see as well as an All Organic Farmers Market. Guest Speakers (including yours truly), Ecological Art Gallery, crafts, yoga, and performances fun for the entire family.
