Greetings!

November is a time for giving--giving thanks and giving back. I would like to extend a big thank you to all of our employees who work so hard every day to make Skowhegan Savings a great place to work. For the third year in a row, Skowhegan Savings was named "Best Place to Work in Maine" by the Society of Human Resources Management-Maine State Council and Best Companies Group. In fact, we were ranked third among other Maine businesses and first among financial institutions. This is a testament to the work ethic of our employees and the joy they find in serving our customers every day.

I would also like to thank our customers, old and new, who recognize the importance of a local bank and its commitment to the community. As a community bank, we are constantly investing in our customers, employees and the surrounding towns to help strengthen the fabric that makes up a vibrant Maine community.

Part of our ongoing commitment to our customers is the use of new technology to help provide great customer service.

Our Investment in Technology

At Skowhegan Savings, our investment in technology not only involves the services we offer our customers, but also involves "behind the scenes" advancements that allow us operate efficiently, securely and be environmentally friendly.

On-the-Go In 2010, we partnered with Covisia Solutions, Inc. and Efficiency Maine to update some of the bank's "behind the scenes" equipment. This money and energy saving opportunity involved trading in traditional desktop computers for energy efficient devices throughout the ten branches. These "thin clients", made possible by a Business Program Incentive from Efficiency Maine, will save $17,000 per year in energy costs and time in upgrades for all 175 computers owned by the bank. Over the past few years, we have integrated several technological advancements into our eTegrity services to make the lives of our customers easier and banking more convenient. Some of the offerings include Online Banking , Mobile and Text Banking and Electronic Documents (Our Product of the Month). Recently, Skowhegan Savings became one of the first banks in Maine to offer Online Rewards, a money-saving rewards program for those who use Online Banking. Most recently, we've entered into the fast-paced realm of social media. You can "like" us on Facebook to receive information about community events, banking tips and other helpful information. And this week, we have introduced our new iPhone app, On-the-Go Mobile Banking, now available through the app store.
