Securing a Piezoelectric Ceramic Element

IMPORTANT TIPS

In order to perform its task, a piezoelectric ceramic element usually must be secured to a solid surface. Of the three approaches - gluing, soldering, and clamping - the overall best approach usually is gluing. An epoxy or acrylate glue will provide a strong, flexible, non-conducting bond. The flexible nature of a glue bond usually eliminates the possibility of vibration-induced fatigue during long term operation.

d33 METER OVERVIEW

The piezoelectric charge constant, d, is alternatively, the mechanical strain experienced by a piezoelectric material per unit of electric field applied, or the polarization generated by the material per unit of mechanical stress applied.

A d33 testing unit is a fast, reliable, low cost means of determining d33 values and can be an invaluable tool for characterizing a piezoelectric ceramic, to ensure quality and unit to unit consistency. Learn More
