Art Van's Million Dollar Charity Challenge --
Giving WRC Clients a "Fresh Start"
|
 | | WRC staff with the "big check" |
WRC was thrilled last week to receive a $25,000 grant from Art Van as part of their Million Dollar Charity Challenge. By designing their gift as a challenge grant, Art Van's intent is to encourage others to donate as well. This is the company's third consecutive year hosting the Million Dollar Charity Challenge -- in that time, 150 different organizations across Michigan have benefited from Art Van's generous support.
This grant, and all matching proceeds it generates, will underwrite WRC's Fresh Start program. Fresh Start provides intensive personal and career development services to un- and under-employed women in the Greater Grand Rapids area.
In the months ahead, we'll be sharing different ways for you to get involved with the Million Dollar Charity Challenge, too.
First up? WRC has a chance to win a bonus grant of up to $25,000 -- based on votes received at the Charity Challenge website. This contest runs through September 30th, and bonus grants will be awarded only to the top three vote-getters.
Click here to cast your vote for us today! Vote for Women's Resource Center once a day, every day until September 30th. Help us gain additional votes by sharing this with your networks -- friends, family, colleagues. Post it on Facebook or LinkedIn, tweet about it, anything you can do to spread the word and get out the votes!
Thank you so much!

Extra, Extra: WRC Gets More Grant Good News!
|
WRC is d elighted to share news of several additional, major grants received recently,
including:
- J. Jill's Compassion Fund
- The Sebastian Foundation
- Spectrum Health -- Healthier Communities
Like the Art Van Million Dollar Charity Challenge grant funds, these foundations' generous gifts will be used to support WRC's Fresh Start program. The services offered through Fresh Start make a tremendous difference in the lives of women we work with. Kenya, a former client, expresses it well:Women's Resource Center helped me so much. They supported and they still support me. They walked me through creating a resume and aided me in finding a job. WRC helped boost my self-esteem. They taught me that I can do whatever I set my mind to and that I'm not a lost cause. I am somebody. They taught me that I should always hold my head up high. My past is just that. My past. And my future is what I choose or make it to be. Many thanks to our corporate and foundation partners, as well as to all our donors, for supporting WRC as we support women like Kenya along the path to economic independence!
