Greetings!

As we celebrate our nation's independence, please remember that Fido may not find the festivities as fun as you do! Here are some safety tips to keep in mind:
Patriotic Logan!
Patriotic Logan
  • People are likely to shoot off fireworks all weekend long. Please keep your dog inside during the holiday weekend.

  • If your dog must be outside, please make sure he is wearing a sturdy collar with a current ID tag. Dogs have been known to bolt in fear and can end up miles from home. Most could easily be returned if they were wearing ID.

  • Before you let your dog in the yard the next morning, check for fireworks debris. You don't want Fido munching on leftover sparklers!

  • If your dog is frightened, put on some soothing music and turn it up. It won't mask the noise completely, but it can help. Keep him in an area of the house where he's least likely to hear the loud noises. Try giving him a yummy food-stuffed toy to chew on as a distraction.

  • Be careful at picnics! Don't put Fido in a position where he can steal food sitting around, and don't let your friends and family feed him unhealthy things, either. Remember, some foods, such as onions, are poisonous to dogs. Letting him indulge could cause an upset tummy ... or worse, a trip to the emergency vet's! If you can't supervise Fido, keep him away from temptation.
The boys and I wish you a safe and happy Fourth of July!
