Teens Not Receiving Regular Preventive Care

A recent paper published in the Annals of Family Medicine reveals that one-third of adolescents with four or more years of continuous enrollment in a health plan had no preventive care visits from age 13 through 17 years. ABC News coverage of the study includes interviews with the study author and several other family medicine physicians. Study findings highlight the importance of using all adolescent clinic visits as an opportunity to provide preventive care services.

The article also highlights findings from research on Dutch and American perceptions of teen sexuality.

Funding Announcement

CDC recently announced that it is working with AED to expand the reach of the GYT: Get Yourself Tested campaign with a focus on chlamydia screening for 15-25 year-old women. Proposals are due November 29, 2010. Click here for more information and to view the Request for Proposals.
