Dear :
Because you want to approach this year with increased confidence, read this message and do what you know must be done.
There are 3 steps to take starting today to enhance your 2011 results. If you truly want something, you have to move forward with focus and determination - keep your eye on the prize.
Why are you waiting? |
1. What?
Let's say you want to lose those holiday pounds. Swim suit season will be here in 120 days. Let's say you want to increase sales to existing customers by 10%. This sounds like a good way to increase your bottom line without a lot of new customer recruitment overhead. Let's say you want to maintain your competitive edge. Your company has been the leader in the industry for a couple of years, and you cannot afford to lose market share. It's important that you narrow down your list of what you want so you can focus on one to three issues. Be sure to write down your thoughts. You will narrow it down to specifics as we move forward. |
2. Why?
You have to realize some personal benefit with emotional consequences from what it is you want to do this year. If you don't, you won't do it. Your emotional consequences can be happiness, increased confidence, etc. What's important is that you clearly and succinctly know what the benefit to you will be when you accomplish this. |
3. How?
Now that you know what it is you want to do and why you want to do it, the next step is deciding how you are going to get what you want. In the vernacular of those of use who help you with strategic planning, these are your action steps. Be sure to establish your timeline for each one of your steps. This will help you to stay personally accountable for your results and also give you increased confidence that you will reach your target as you can check off your accomplishments. |
At the end of the day
If you don't want to show your planning work to anyone, that's fine. Keep it for your eyes only. But you have to write this down because that makes you accountable for your results. It's too easy for your wants to take a back seat to whatever pressing issue is in front of you right now. Committing your plans to paper puts your plans in a different context that you can monitor.
Don't delay any longer.
