With the Summer Solstice just behind us, the evenings will be getting shorter but that's a while off yet! Connemara is a hive of activity at the moment. Here's some of the events to watch out for over the next few weeks:
Féile Mhic Dara
14th to 16th July, Carna
A festival of the traditional boats of Connemara along with currach racing in honour of the patron saint of seafarers, St. Mac Dara.
Festival of the Sea
21st July to 11th August, Cleggan and Claddaghduff
Expect talks, guided nature walks and great fun children's events along with tag rugby, soccer and fishing competitions.
Omey Races
4th August, Claddaghduff
The annual horse race on Omey Strand, a much loved local event with a very definite racing finishing up time!
Connemara Pony Show
9th August, Clifden
Make note,the Connemara Pony Show is earlier this year. This is a showcase of Connemara's native horse with visiting and local ponies alike.
Clifden Arts Festival
10th to 20th September, Clifden
Ireland's longest running arts festival, this 10 day festival is occuring during Clifden's 200th birthday. A huge programme of events as usual is expected.
