THANK YOU FOR MAKING OUR SUMMER EVENTS SUCCESSFUL
The Buddy Program's fundraising season was a raging success again this year! At the 11th annual Boogie's Bash for the Buddies, 500 guests sipped cocktails, sampled appetizers served by Aspen's favorite restaurants, and perused the Silent Auction followed by dinner and dancing. The late night FENDI Lounge brought in another 150 young adults after dinner to continue the dancing to DJ Pesce from LA. Thanks to FENDI, our Exclusive Fashion Partner, and Nancy and Richard Rogers and Laura and Lantz Welch, our honorees, Boogie's Bash reached a new height of success and style. But the fun didn't end there. Boogie's Diner was the Start and Finish of Boogie's Diner Buddy 5-Mile Race on July 4th again this year. Nearly 1,000 people ran the five mile course to launch their Fourth of July celebration. Spirits were high as each runner crossed the finish line, cheered on by enthusiastic volunteers.
We owe thanks to so many for helping us meet our fundraising targets, and thus helping the Buddy Program to continue our services in the Roaring Fork Valley. Thank you to Boogie, our gracious host who continues to inspire us with his generosity, and a special thanks to our National Council - led by Tony Mazza and Mona Look-Mazza and Bill and Susan Plummer, Board of Directors - led by Dave Bellack, Diane Anderson, and Jenny Elliot, and Leadership Development Board - led by David Cook and Jimmy Marcus, who are all loyal donors, advocates and volunteers. We are also grateful to the 200 event volunteers that inspire us with their hard work and can-do attitudes. And lastly, thank you to 170 local businesses who donated to our Silent and Live Auctions, and many more who donated in-kind services, allowing us to maintain a low expense ratio across our fundraising events. These fundraisers would not be possible without you, so thank you to ALL of you for your support, enthusiasm, and hard work. |

Outward Bound
In early June, six Buddy pairs joined us for three days of adventure, challenges, goal setting, confidence building, fun, and lots of laughter at the Outward Bound campus in Leadville, CO. This amazing trip would not have been possible without the generous support of Outward Bound, who provided scholarships for all of the Little Buddies who attend, and the Harris Foundation who provided underwriting for the overall expenses. The weather could not have been more perfect, with crystal clear skies and 75 degree temperatures. Big and Little Buddies pushed themselves out of their comfort zones, and embraced the challenges with which they were presented. As Buddy pairs, our Big and Little Buddies learned more about themselves, and their Buddy through teambuilding activities, rock climbing, a high ropes course, fun discussions, and games. Each Buddy Pair had their own struggles, and overcame them together. In the closing ceremony, Little Buddies shared their favorite memories with their Big Buddies, which left most of the group in tears. The Buddy Pairs that attended learned skills that will help them continue to grow closer as a pair and will help build their self-esteem.

Through our evaluative process, we are able to measure the results of the experiences of the Little Buddies at Outward Bound. We are proud to report that after attending Outward Bound, Little Buddies:
- Are prouder of the things that they do
- Know how to solve problems better
- Like to try new things
- Feel safe, supported, and encouraged by their friends
- Are more comfortable talking about their feelings
