While kids are on The Buddy Program's wait-list, they are still able to access our counseling services as well as scholarships for extra-curricular activities. However, what they want most is a Big Buddy to share their time with! Call us today at (970) 927-1001 to find out how you can guide and inspire a young person.

Thank You for Supporting our Summer Fundraisers to Keep our Programs Strong!
We feel deeply grateful to the entire Roaring Fork community and beyond for making The Buddy Program's fundraising season such an enormous success.  The spirit of giving is certainly alive in Aspen as demonstrated by the generosity of our gala patrons, race participants, event coordinators and vendors, our volunteers, restaurant contributors, corporate sponsors, silent and live auction donors, and especially our Big Buddies.  We feel honored by the remarkable show of support for our mission.  Thanks to you, we are able to go the extra mile with the children in our mentoring programs, thus significantly impacting their daily lives.
We kicked off our summer fundraising season with the tenth anniversary of Boogie's Bash for the Buddies on July 3rd, hosted once again by our hero and mentor, Lenny "Boogie" Weinglass.  Thirty local restaurants and bars each served up a dish or unique cocktail, donating their time and services for the evening.  The Silent Auction was an enormous success once again, with 153 items donated.  New this year, our event was produced by Think Big Aspen Events whose creativity and professionalism brought our annual fundraising gala to a new level.  What's more, we launched our first Junior Ticket, and drew in a crowd of 80 young professionals who danced the night away. The result?  A fantastic party that incorporated the next generation of Big Buddies, patrons, and volunteers.

After dancing past midnight, we awoke early along with 950 runners for The Buddy Program's annual Boogie's Diner Buddy 5-Mile Race on the 4th of July.  This Aspen tradition inspires adults and children, individuals and families alike, to run a five mile loop that includes Cemetery Lane's infamous Heart Attack Hill. This year, 130 volunteers cheered the runners up the hill and beyond, with Boogie himself the most enthusiastic cheerleader.

Your loyalty to our organization keeps us thriving, allowing us to strengthen our community by guiding and inspiring youth through mentoring.  The free activities we provide, and scholarships and counseling services we fund, only scratch the surface of the overall support system we provide for all of our Buddy Pairs. Lastly, a special shout out to those people who help sustain The Buddy Program with their exceptional generosity: Boogie, our Chairman and our inspiration, our Board of Directors, and our patrons, without whom we would not be here to share our daily success stories!  Thank you.
Opportunities for You and Your Little Buddy
  • The Basalt Chamber of Commerce would like to encourage Buddies to take part in the Green Team at Basalt River Days on Saturday, August 15.  The task is simple - educate people on what can be composted, recycled or thrown away as trash. Volunteers are needed from 9:00am until 7:00pm in preferably two hour shifts if possible.  All volunteers will receive a commemorative River Day T-shirt and will be thanked in the Thank You ad.  To sign up, email Heather at director@basaltchamber.com
  • Lights, Drama, Laughs!
  • The Buddy Program is happy to announce that an invitation has been extended to all Buddy Pairs to attend The Glenwood Vaudeville Revue, a two-hour play with a mix of hilarious skits, jokes and high energy dance numbers that guarantee entertainment. Buddy Pairs Watch the Latest Harry Potter Movie
CBCThe Buddy Program would like to thank the Children's Bereavement Center, a Miami-based organization that helps children and families heal and rebuild their lives after loss, for partnering with our program so that Big and Little Harry PotterBuddies could attend the premier of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince last Saturday, July 18.  Buddy Pairs arrived at the Isis Theatre early in the morning, excited to take part in the viewing of Harry Potter's latest release.  Everyone was greeted with Harry Potter glasses, popcorn and candy by CBC staff in costume!  The smiles on Big and Little Buddies faces proved that the event was a huge success. Thank you again for your generosity to our local program. We value your partnership!

SlaughterhouseThe Buddy Program would like to thank...

  • Blazing Adventures and its raft guides for choosing our organization as the beneficiary of the Inaugural Blazing Adventures Slaughterhouse Charity Race. Twelve Blazing Adventures raft guides raised over $1,500, all of which was donated to The Buddy Program, to race down Class IV rapids in the Slaughterhouse section of The Roaring Fork River. It was an exciting event, wonderful partnership, and we are thrilled that Blazing supports our mission!
  • Billy and Knansee Taylor for donating a portion of the proceeds from their Vintage Bike Sales. In the past 3 months, the Taylors have donated over $2,000 to The Buddy Program! We are so grateful for their generosity and continued support of our programs. Billy and Knansee will be selling their one-of-a-kind vintage bikes in front of Boogie's Diner on Saturdays in the upcoming weeks. Go check them out, buy a bike, and support The Buddy Program!
