Bronx Prep Students Receive Recognition For Hard Work

Last Spring we were approached by Jessica Perilman, College Counselor at the Bronx Preparatory Charter School, about working with her students in preparation for the October SAT. Excited about this opportunity, we created a customized test prep program that ran from mid-August to the October 10th test date. Private Prep Founder Steve Feldman and tutor Alex Mallory focused on key concepts and test taking skills in  groups of four to six students. We are proud of the hard work our students from Bronx Prep put forward and thrilled about their subsequent increase in SAT scores.

We were not the only ones that took note of this dedication. Recently New York 1 featured several of our students and their classmates from Bronx Prep. Check it out: Bronx Students Place Stamp On Future.

Congratulations to our students from Bronx Prep on a job well done. We too expect big things from them in the future!
As the Holidays Approach, Time Management is Key

Isaac picWe can't believe the holiday season is just around the corner already! Between time off for holidays, extracurricular activities in full swing and the an increased amount of school work, it is critical for to use your free time efficiently this time of the year.

Using a planner is an essential component of effective time management. Planners make time visible and the work load concrete. Here are five planning strategies from our Head Learning Specialist, Nicole Cohen, which can help during this busy time of the year:
  • Insert a copy of your school schedule in the front or back of the planner. For student's using an electronic calendar, block out class times for the rest of the school year.
  • Include due dates for assignments.
  • Get in the habit of updating your planner once a day. This routine will help you stay on top of school work and other commitments.
  • If you anticipate a busy day coming up, plan ahead; complete assignments a day earlier.
  • Make a "to do list." Physically cross off items as they are completed. Try to limit the urgent "to do" items to three per day.
Bring your planners to lessons with our tutors. They can ensure assignments do not fall through the cracks and give you ideas to help you are make the most of your free time.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

All the best,
