Private Prep to Offer Summer Tutoring in the Hamptons
We are pleased to announce that Private Prep will be offering tutoring in the Hamptons this summer. Putting in a little extra work with a tutor over the summer can prove to be beneficial. It is a great way to get ahead of the curve and build on the hard work during the past school year. Continuing to work on academic skills over the summer can be particularly helpful in subjects like math, reading/writing skills and foreign languages that build year over year.

Several of our fantastic tutors from NYC will be available to tutor in the Hamptons. Additionally, we are actively looking for tutors that spend their summers in the Hamptons by fostering relationships with local camps and educators. Hampton Country Day Camp is one such camp that we have begun discussing a tutoring enrichment program with (see side bar for more on Hampton Country Day Camp).

Summer is a great time to recharge and try out new experiences. We encourage our students to have a whole lot of fun, but don't forget to mix in some academic enrichment.... whether it's with a tutor or any other educational experience.

If you are interested in further discussing summer tutoring the Hamptons, please let us know sooner rather than later so we can make the appropriate arrangements.

Private Prep's Tips for Effective Communication
Between parents, friends, teachers, tutors and coaches there a lot of people that want to know what's going on in our students' lives. How are they doing in school? What are their plans for the weekend? Is it really possible to spend that much time on Facebook every day? So needless to say, students need to communicate a lot of information with multiple people and that can be a source of anxiety.

Knowing that communication can sometimes be a burden, here are three ways to help effectively communicate with all the people interested in our lives:
  • Seek out feedback from teachers. Teachers want to see their students succeed. They will usually be more than happy to give an honest assessment of where a student excels and where there is room for improvement.
  • Respond to emails and voicemails as you receive them. Electronic communication has made it so easy to get in touch with anybody at any time. As a result, we all expect to hear responses almost immediately. Don't procrastinate and let unanswered messages pile up. It seems simple on paper, but we know it's easy to fall behind.
  • Facebook, G-chat and email are great ways to keep in touch, but there is no substitute for face-to-face interaction. Particularly when it comes to talking about education, communicating in person is vital.
Our goal is to make communication easier and we are often able to help bridge the gap between student, parents and teachers. We are happy to reach out to our students' schools. This way our tutors can make sure we are on the same page as the teachers, ensure that our students are organized and help keep parents appraised of their child's progress.

With beautiful spring weather just around the corner (we hope), it can be difficult to stay focused on school and test prep. We are here to help our students stay on the right track and maximize their potential. Do not hesitate to reach out to us with any questions you have as we head down the school year's home stretch.

All the best,

About Hampton Country Day Camp
We believe that summers should be a time for personal enrichment academically and socially. While a few supplemental sessions with our tutors can help with academics, social enrichment aspect requires a healthy group environment.

Hampton Country Day Camp provides children with unique experiences that help them grow, learn, have fun and build lasting relationships. Tucked away in the Buckskill Preserve, Hampton Country Day Camp offers a unique camp experience in a beautiful country setting.  Surrounded by oak and pine trees, the 24-acre campus provides an environment for children to play, explore and make friends. The goal each summer is for campers to embark upon a journey that develops a greater sense of self-esteem and self-confidence.

Similarly, building confidence is a key ingredient in Private Prep's approach to tutoring. This is one of the many reasons we believe Hampton Country Day Camp is a great way for our students to spend their summers.
