Greetings!
Hello! Welcome to March and this month's edition of gracenotes!

These past few months it seems I have been traveling non-stop. It has been lovely to meet so many of you during my travels and school visits through Ohio and Texas and I hope to see more of you in the future.

In the meantime, I have some monthly news I would love to share:
Happy Birthday to The Ugly Vegetables
The Ugly Vegetables celebrates 10 years on March 16th

uglyvegetables_coverIt's hard to imagine, but my very first published book has hit its 10 year anniversary! Yes, The Ugly Vegetables is 10 years old. To celebrate this momentous occasion, on March 16th there will be an anniversary edition with a new cover, design and an updated pinyin glossary!

The last was a most important change, as the original book used out-dated pinyin which made it difficult for those non-Chinese speakers (including myself) to pronounce the names of the vegetables. So, in honor of this edition I've added an Ugly Vegetables Chinese Lesson on my website.

It's time for the March auction of Small Graces: A Painting a Month for the FCB! This is the 3rd painting to be auctioned on eBay (RIGHT NOW) as a benefit for programs in under-served schools.

Here's how it works: Every month a small (5x5 inch), unpublished, original painting will be auctioned on eBay with 100% of the proceeds to support the FCB's author/illustrator visits and residencies in urban schools. Each painting will illustrate a bit of wisdom, a proverb, a "small Grace."
 
This month's painting  is being auctioned March 9th- March 13th  So, RIGHT NOW (click HERE!)

Please spread the word! If you can, please post about the project to your blogs or listservs and tell your friends. And, of course, bid yourself!  For those you who have found my original art from my books beyond your budget, this is a great way to get a bargain!  So, please spread the word and bid!
