Greetings!
Hello! Happy February! Not only has the month has blown in piles of snow and the Year of the Ox, right around the corner is Valentine's Day!

So, I have been receiving lovely letters (as good as any Valentine's day card), answering questions as well as making a little painting in honor of the holiday of love(below). I hope it makes your Valentine's Day a bit sweeter.

It's auction time again!  Small Graces: A Painting a Month for the FCB  features this painting (to the right) This is the 2nd painting to be auctioned on eBay (RIGHT NOW) as a benefit for programs in under-served schools.

Here's how it works: Every month a small (5x5 inch), unpublished, original painting will be auctioned on eBay with 100% of the proceeds to support the FCB's author/illustrator visits and residencies in urban schools. Each painting will illustrate a bit of wisdom, a proverb, a "small Grace."

This month's painting  is being auctioned Monday, February 9 to Friday, February 13.  So, RIGHT NOW (click HERE!)

Please spread the word! If you can, please post about the project to your blogs or listservs and tell your friends. And, of course, bid yourself!  For those you who have found my original art from my books beyond your budget, this is a great way to get a bargain!  So spread the word and bid!

From the inbox
some recent frequently asked questions (and answers)

Q: I loved THE YEAR OF THE RAT and  THE YEAR OF THE DOG, are you going to write THE YEAR OF THE OX or THE YEAR OF THE TIGER? Are you going to write all 12 animal years?
A: I'm glad you enjoyed my novels! Right now, I am not planning on writing another "Year of..." book--and I hadn't planned on writing all 12 years. But with all the interest, I am considering it! No matter what, I do plan on writing more books about the Pacy and Melody characters, I am working on one now.

Q: In THE YEAR OF THE DOG, you say it's the year of family and friends. In THE YEAR OF THE RAT, you say it is the year of new beginnings. This year is the Year of the Ox, what does it mean?
A: They say that the Year of the Ox is the year of hard work! The ox is diligent and persistence, so this is the year to be the same. Hopefully, all the hard work will pay off with great rewards though!
