Can't wait to see the Playable Art Park on Abernathy Greenway? Now you don't have to, as Fulton County's Abernathy Arts Center and Public Art Program will kick off a six week exhibit, Maquettes, Models, and Sketches: Public Art as Process which will highlight the Playable Art Park by including maquettes, artist sketches and statements for the selected sculptures on March 2!
Maquettes are small scale models or rough drafts of unfinished architectural works or sculptures. They are used to visualize and test shapes and ideas without incurring the cost and effort of producing full scale products.
The long anticipated Opening Reception for the exhibit is on Friday, March 2 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Abernathy Arts Center (254 Johnson Ferry Road, NW, 30328) and is free and open to the public. After that, the exhibit will be available for viewing during normal gallery hours (Tues-Thurs 9-7; Fri 9-5 and Sat 9-2-- call 404-613-6172 for exceptions).
The exhibition is a joint effort between Fulton County's Abernathy Arts Center and Public Art Program, as well as the Sandy Springs Conservancy, Art Sandy Springs and Northside Hospital (through Playable Art Park).

Abernathy Arts Center is Fulton County's oldest neighborhood Arts Center dedicated to providing quality arts instruction to the community in a warm and friendly environment since 1974.
Under the guidance of the Fulton County Department of Arts & Culture, Abernathy Arts Center offers a broad range of day and evening classes for adults and children. The gallery features monthly exhibits which provide exhibition opportunities for students and faculty.
