Private Tour - High Museum of Art

 

Thursday, February 10, 2011 -  arrive by 5:45 pm to allow time to check-in.

 

A private tour of the American Art Collection at the High Museum of Art will be led by Curator Stephanie Heydt exclusively for ArtSS members. The one hour tour begins promptly at 6:00 pm.  Admission is free for members of the High Museum; non-members will need to purchase a ticket.  We will spend an hour in the galleries, and afterwards we will adjourn to the Table 1280 Restaurant (located on the plaza at the Woodruff Arts Center) where for a short time Ms. Heydt will join us to answer questions.

 

The American Art Collection at the High Museum includes works by renowned 19th and 20th century artists such as William Merritt Chase, Henry Ossawa Tanner, John Twachtman and Childe Hassam.  It includes landscapes by Hudson River School artists, figure paintings by Henry Inman and John Singer Sargent, and still-life paintings by John Frederick Peto, William Michael Harnett and William Mason Brown.

May 6th Gala

Mark your calendars for the May 6th ArtSS Gala.  Kate Dalba and Joan Plunkett are working on the details of the event. Anne Lambert Tracht of ConsultArt, Inc. has signed contract to be curator for the event.
