Get lean NOW with these simple tricks!
For most of us, the single greatest barrier to getting lean is overeating. The type of calories you eat (e.g. protein, carbohydrate, or fat) matters, but the total number of calories you eat matters far more. Below are some simple tricks that will make it easier for you to avoid overeating, lose fat and stay lean over your lifetime:
(1) Use a smaller spoon or fork when eating. Sounds stupid? Just try it. Using smaller utensils reduces the size of your bites. This makes it easier to appreciate each one, and avoid overeating. Stated bluntly, you're less likely to eat like a piggy.
(2) Use smaller bowls or plates. This is similar to (1), above. Any given portion size will seem larger and more satisfying when served on a smaller plate.
(3) Use the "Ideal 12" rule: It's merely a rule of thumb, but for many people, the "Ideal 12" rule works quite well. It dictates that you eat 12 Calories per pound of Ideal Body Weight (IBW) per day. The IBW is the estimated weight at which you'll be as lean as you want to be. If you're already as lean as you want to be, then this discussion is kind of moot, since you probably know how many Calories you need to be eating! More often than not, it's around 12 Calories per lb of IBW per day. For the purpose of example, let's say you're a 145-lb woman and you estimate that your IBW is 115 lb. Then you would shoot for a daily intake of 12 Calories/lb x 115 lb = 1380 Calories.
Replace one higher-calorie meal with a BI protein shake. If you take this simple step every day, you will eventually lose weight. It's virtually guaranteed. Choose MUSCLE PROVIDER or ULTIMATE MUSCLE PROTEIN. You can't go wrong.

Dieting down? Don't let your libido go down, too.
Recently BI spoke with a PhD research scientist who has conducted several studies on sports nutrition ingredients. These include carnitine compounds like those found in QUADRACARN. He has also helped physique athletes prepare for competition. As many readers are aware, preparing for a physique competition usually involves cutting calories and doing more cardio. This may cause libido to deteriorate, something the scientist has observed in the athletes he has consulted. In an effort to avoid this, he has instructed his athletes to supplement with a derivative of propionyl-l-carnitine (PLC), one of the key ingredients in QUADRACARN. By supplementing with PLC his athletes are able to get lean without "starving" and performing as much cardio, and without any loss in libido.
As we mentioned in the last newsletter (issue #12, available in the E-Newsletter Archive), QUADRACARN users report that it enhances blood flow and vascularity all over the body (including the "sexual zone"), as well as libido.

Alpha-Lipoic Acid for Weight Loss
If you're familiar with BI's ADVANCED ANTIOXIDANT COMPOUND, you know that it contains alpha-lipoic acid (ALA), a naturally-occurring antioxidant. Recently BI corresponded with South Korean scientists who have reported that it enhances weight loss in humans, possibly by suppressing appetite.
In a clinical study published in the January 2011 issue of the American Journal of Medicine (1), obese subjects received 1200 mg or 1800 mg of ALA or a placebo each day. The study lasted 20 weeks and involved 360 subjects. Those receiving 1800 mg of ALA per day lost 2.1% more weight than those getting the placebo. While this isn't a huge difference, it was statistically significant, no doubt helped by the fact that there were so many subjects in the study.
One of the problems with ALA is that it has a short half-life, somewhere around 30 minutes. This means that it is quickly removed from your body. ALA's bioavailability isn't high, either, unlike creatine monohydrate or caffeine, for instance, for which the bioavailability is virtually 100%. This means that a good portion of any dose isn't absorbed. If ALA were a poison, then this would be good news. But if you want to lose weight, then you'll likely need your appetite to be suppressed for more than a few minutes. Several hours would be ideal, depending on the circumstances. This would require taking ALA, say, every 30 minutes or so over the same time frame.
This week we received a study from Dr. Jongwhi Li (2) at Chung-Ang University in South Korea. He and his colleagues studied a "nanoparticle" delivery system that they hope will overcome ALA's short half-life and bioavailability issues, thereby making it more effective as an appetite suppressant. In a study performed on rats, appetite suppression lasted for 6 hours with his special ALA delivery system. Dr. Li also informed us that one of the doctoral students in his group published a paper about the mechanism of ALA's appetite-suppressing effects in the well-respected journal Nature Medicine (3).

Product Spotlight: ADVANCED ANTIOXIDANT COMPOUND (AAC)
What Sets It Apart
· ALA: Many antioxidant formulas do not contain alpha-lipoic acid (ALA). AAC contains 50% more ALA than a popular ALA supplement.
· Synergistic formula: ALA works synergistically with Vitamin C, E and other antioxidants found in AAC.
· Clinically-Proven Ingredients
· Bodybuilding.com Average User Rating: 9.8
· 60 tablets, 30 servings
Perfect For
· Age Prevention: Ingredients in AAC exert anti-aging effects throughout the body. For instance, ALA, vitamin C and co-enzyme Q10 help protect mitochondria. Mitochondrial dysfunction has been suggested to play a key role in aging.
· Anti-Inflammatory Support: By increasing the body's antioxidant status, AAC may support its ability to control inflammation. Low-grade, chronic inflammation has been suggested to contribute to a variety of aging-related diseases.
· Weight Management: In animal and human studies, ALA enhances weight loss, possibly by suppressing appetite. People following low-calorie (weight loss) diets are at increased risk of not getting enough antioxidants. AAC can help fill the gap.
Results
· Let's be honest. Antioxidants aren't something you take and say "Aha! It's working!" Think more in terms of the peace of mind you'll get from knowing that you are supplying your body with scientifically-proven antioxidant compounds on a daily basis.
How To Use
· Take 2 tablets of AAC daily on an empty stomach. (Research suggests that alpha-lipoic acid (ALA) is absorbed more efficiently when it is taken without a meal.) |
