Non-Uniform Date Changed:
Please note that our next Non-Uniform Day will be on Tuesday, December 15 (not Thursday, as previously indicated).  The theme is the holidays, so we look forward to seeing a lot of antlers and other holiday paraphernalia!
Order your holiday Centerpieces and Wreaths now!
Yesterday I e-mailed all families an order form for the beautiful hand-made Christmas Centerpieces and Wreaths.   Made with fresh cedar, pine and balsam; these will make a great gift and/or addition to your holiday decorations!    The items are made by a family in Navan and we are accepting orders until Monday, with delivery on the day of the Craft Sale.    For only $20 you can show your support for the "Let's Score Some Hockey Boards" Campaign!  Thank you!
Missing School Vest and Sweater:
After numerous searches and announcements, Caylen Thomsen is unable to locate both his vest and sweater.  Both are labeled with his name.  Can all parents please take a look to see if your child accidently brought Caylen's clothes home?   These items have been missing for some time and we thank you in advance for your help in locating them!

Have you placed your magazine order yet?  It is not too late!
A reminder to all parents that you can place your magazine orders by clicking on the link located on the left navigation bar of the school website. This is a great way to support the school's fundraising for new hockey boards, as well as save money on magazine subscriptions.

Not able to order on-line?

We are still accepting paper orders until December 11.  Please deliver the paperwork directly to me.  Thank you!

West Carleton Toy Drive:
Every year the Venta students help make a wish come true for a child in our area.

Yesterday we put up an "Angel Tree" decorated with gift requests.   The students were encouraged to ask their parents if they could take an angel and purchase a gift appropriate for the age of their angel child.

The tree has been up for less than 24 hours and already I have 5 gifts in my office!   If you choose to participate, please return the gift to me, unwrapped and with the angel attached, by December 11.

Thank you for your support!

Christmas Concert and Craft Sale:
The students are busy preparing for the Christmas Concert that will be held in Valerie Kluska Hall at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 11. This is a very popular event, so parents are asked to arrive early.

The students are also preparing for the Craft Sale that will be held after the concert in the main school. This year the money raised will go towards purchasing new boards for the hockey rink.

We are looking for donations of the following items (very light used!):
Toys and Clothing
Baked goods (no NUTs please!)
Christmas Crafts
Bottles for the bottle table
Items for the Silent Auction Table - Ottawa Sens tickets/ merchandise for example

For more information, please click on the following link: Christmas Craft Sale Letter

We look forward to seeing you at the Concert and Sale. Thank you in advance for your support!
Term 2 - Hockey Equipment:
A reminder that in Term 2 ALL the students use the Venta rink for Phys. Ed, Intramurals and as an option, for recess.

In January, please remember to send your child to school with a hockey stick and a helmet with a full cage.   Often parents will pick these items up at Play it Again Sports etc.

Your child is welcome to bring skates to use during recess and lunch hour.  The only proviso is that the child must be able to put on, do up and take off his or her own skates.  The younger children may want to bring skates with Velcro or a dial.
Morning Drop Off and Evening Pick-Up: A Reminder
A reminder to parents that when dropping off or picking up your child, please do so as quickly as possible. If you do not pull into a parking spot, please do not stay and chat with your child or get out of your car and walk to the school.  If you need to do this, please park in the designated parking spots.   In this case, when cars do not park, they back up traffic and it is dangerous for those children trying to get by the cars.  Thanks in advance for your understanding!
