Thank You!
We would like to send a special thank you to those parents who volunteered their time to take the kids to the Carp Fair while the staff participated in a PD day.
 
From all accounts the children had a great time.  The teachers also had a very informative day which would not have been possible without the help of the parent volunteers.
 
Thank you again!
Grade 7's Participate in Mexican Exchange:
 
On Friday you will see a Mexican flag hanging just below the Canadian flag.   This signals the beginning of our 2nd annual Venta - American Institute of Monterrey exchange programme. 
 
On Friday evening 6 students from the AIM school in Monterrey will arrive in Ottawa to spend 10 days with their Canadian host families.  The exchange programme is both academic and cultural in nature. The Mexicans will spend the morning on cultural excursions and the afternoons in the Venta classrooms.
 
In March, the Venta students travel to Monterrey to do the same thing. 
 
For a lot of these students, this is their first time away from home and to Canada.  I am sure the entire Venta community will make them feel welcome!

Parent Committee  Magazine Campaign:
 
By now all families should have received the magazine order  catalogue listing over 700 magazines available at up to 80% off the newsstand price.  If you prefer to order via catalogue, the deadline to return the forms to the teachers is Friday, October 23.

6th Annual Friendship Breakfast for the United Way:
We look forward to welcoming all the families who are attending the breakfast to the school bright and early tomorrow morning!
Intramural Day and Intramural House Photo Day - Friday, October 2:
Our first intramural afternoon will be this Friday, October 2.  The students will start the afternoon by getting their house photo taken, followed by flag football.
 
All students can wear their sports uniform to school on Friday.  Please make sure that your child brings the Venta sweatshirt and/or varsity jacket so that there is a sense of uniformity to the house pictures.
