I have added the dates for various field trips and intramurals etc. Please note however, that the first Parent Classroom visit originally scheduled for October 23 has been moved to Friday, October 9 from 2:30 - 3:30 p.m. |
| Non-Uniform Day : |
| Our first Non-Uniform day is next Thursday, September 17.
The students pay $3 for the privilege of not wearing their uniform to school. The money goes toward a charity chosen by the students. This month the charity will be chosen by the Grade 10 class.

| School Photo Day: |
| Our school photo day is the morning of Wednesday, September 23. All students are to wear their number one uniform on this day.
Students in Grades 9 and 10 must wear their blazer, with pants for the boys and a kilt for the girls.
All other students must wear their long sleeve sweater with pants for boys, or a kilt for girls.* Girls in Junior 1 and 2 can wear their tunic without a sweater. |
| Parent Volunteers Needed for School Photo Day: |
| Every year we ask for Parent Volunteers to help the photographer with the school photos. We require 3 parents who are available from 8:30 a.m. until approximately 11:45 a.m. If you are interested in helping out, please contact me as soon as possible. Thank you! |
| Reminder about Pick-Up Times: |
|
A reminder that on Friday's ALL students are dismissed at 4:15 p.m. If you are unable to be here at that time, your child is welcome to join the boarding programme.
Otherwise all day students in Junior 3 - Grade 10 are dismissed at 5:30 p.m. from Monday to Thursday. Students in Junior 1 and 2 can leave as early as 4:15 p.m., however there is an optional activity period until 5:30 p.m.
If you would like your child to stay later than 5:30 p.m., please leave a message with Sean Hopper at ext. 225. Your child is more than welcome to join our boarders for supper, however, we appreciate at least 24 hours notice and the cost is $5. |

| Daphne Whiting is our school administrative assistant and she can be reached by dialing ext. 0. The school office hours are from 8:30 a.m. - 4:15 p.m. If you need to leave a message after 4:15 p.m., then please call Sean Hopper at ext. 225. He checks his messages at 5:30 p.m.
If you want to reach a student in the Junior 1 or 2 classroom after 4:15 p.m., please dial ext. 248 to reach Amanda. She will supervise the activity period until 5:30 p.m.
Parents of boarding students can reach their child by calling Sheila Berrigan at ext. 238. Boarding students typically call home on Wednesday evenings. |
| Duke Of Edinburgh Canoe Trip: |
| The Grade 9 and 10 students are going on a 4 day canoe trip (Sept. 21-24) down the Madawaska River to fulfill the "adventurous journey" component of the Duke Of Edinburgh Award. They will spend September 15 and 16 taking canoe lessons at the Bear Creek Outdoor Centre in Campbell's Bay, Quebec.
Please note that the students will be away during the school photo day, so it is important that they be available for the re-take day on Friday, October 16.

| Parent-Staff Wine and Cheese: |

All parents are invited to attend a Parent/Staff Wine and Cheese on Friday, September 18 from 4:15 - 6:00 p.m. The event will take place at the home of Dr. Sidlauskas, which is on the property, and is intended as a social gathering to catch-up and get to know our new families. There will be supervision for the children during this time. We hope to see you there! |
| Introducing Mlle. Elysa Esposito: |
|
We are pleased to introduce our new French teacher, Mlle. Elysa Esposito. Elysa was born in the Ottawa area and raised in the Cornwall area. She has attended francophone schools in her elementary and secondary years. She later attended Nipissing University in North Bay where she completed a major in Geography and a minor in French. Her Bachelor in Education was also completed at Nipissing where she had the opportunity to complete an in-service teacher placement in England. Elysa is currently studying part-time in order to complete her Master's in Education at the University of Ottawa.
Elysa went on to complete two successful first years of teaching in the Edmonton area in Alberta. There she taught junior high French Immersion and senior high English and French. Elysa has completed many national and international trips to French areas and is passionate about the French language.
Elysa is very active and enjoys the outdoors. She spends most of her free time playing soccer and hockey and she is training for her first marathon in October in Toronto. Elysa is a new resident in the Carp area this year and is looking forward to her first year at Venta. | Dress Code for Boys: |
| A separate e-mail was sent to the parents of our female students regarding our dress code.
We want to remind parents of our male students that the students have their hair cut above their eyebrows. We should be able to see their ear-lobes and the hair should fall on or above their shirt collar.
